Casar de Cáceres, March 21. – The Regulatory Council of the Torta del Casar Protected Designation of Origin organizes the eighth edition of 'The Taste of a Territory' that starts on March 25, coinciding with Holy Week and runs until May 31. Its objective is to promote gastronomic tourism around protected cheese, a key sector for economic development, offering travelers the possibility of staying in more than fifteen charming hotels and at the same time enjoying the gastronomy of Cáceres, in which Torta del Casar acts as host.

“The 'Taste of a Territory' campaign returns this year to its origins to concentrate efforts on the natural geographical area of Torta del Casar - in the province of Cáceres - and offer visitors more resources to get to know the territory with less displacement efforts”, as explained by the director of the Torta del Casar Protected Designation of Origin, Javier Muñoz.

This edition acquires greater relevance because it takes place on the 25th anniversary of the birth of the Denomination of Origin and, as a novelty, it merges the Torta del Casar Club, launched last edition, with the 'Ruta El Sabor de un Territorio ', which was presented at Fitur last January, offering visitors the possibility of enjoying free gastronomic experiences, visits to cheese factories, tastings at the Trujillo Cheese Fair, or participating in raffles for lots of Torta del Marry, among other advantages.

The Gastronomic Route includes five routes through the province of Cáceres to learn about its gastronomy and natural and cultural resources. “After seven spring editions of ‘The Taste of a Territory’, we thought it was necessary to deepen the dissemination of our natural, historical and gastronomic resources. That is why this year we have developed this new tourism product that combines the advantages of belonging to the Club and the ease of managing multiple visits and activities in our territory, with cheese protected at the center," said Muñoz.

A total of 16 hotels participate in the campaign

16 hotels with restaurants have joined this eighth edition that are committed to quality gastronomy that identifies the territory and Extremaduran products with Designation of Origin, located in historic buildings such as palaces and convents, linked to gastronomy such as wineries or flour factories. , or in spectacular natural settings.

Five tours to get to know Cáceres

The routes of the 'Taste of a Territory Route' depart and return to Casar de Cáceres, the birthplace of Torta del Casar, and incorporate museum and interpretive spaces related to the pastoral and nomadic culture typical of each area, which provides a greater value to the traditions around the gastronomic preparations of the territory. In addition, the Gastronomic Route includes a selection of accommodations, restaurants, activity companies, cheese shops and gourmet shops so that the visitor has a complete experience. Visitors can find all the information and book their experiences without leaving the website.

The first route contemplates the southwest of the province, passing through Cáceres capital, the area of the Tajo Internacional and the Tajo Salor Almonte. The second runs through the northwest of the province, passing through the Alagón Valley, the Sierra de Gata or Las Hurdes. The third explores the central and northern area, passing through Monfragüe, Plasencia, Ambroz and Cáparra. For its part, the fourth route goes through the Jerte Valley, La Vera and Campo Arañuelo, that is, through the northeast of Cáceres. The fifth and last gastronomic route covers the southeast of the province, with destinations such as Montánchez, Trujillo or the Villuercas Ibores Jara Geopark.

“We offer diverse and independent tours so that travelers can enjoy each one little by little, but with the goal of getting to know them all. Furthermore, we intend to strengthen ties with collaborating establishments to attract an increasingly greater number of people so that they can try Torta del Casar and learn about its origins,” remarked the director of the Protected Designation of Origin.
