Patrimonio Ediciones, with more than 30 years of experience in the preservation of cultural heritage, is proud to announce the successful reconstruction of the Turin Prayer Book. This valuable manuscript, partially destroyed in the fateful 1904 fire at the B.N.U in Turin, has been reconstructed, based on B/W photographs, taken in 1902, with the collaboration of renowned museums, including the Getty Museum and the Louvre. The Turin Prayer Book is a treasure of universal art, made between the years 1389 - 1450 by several great artists, among which the van Eyck brothers stand out, considered the Holy Grail of illuminated manuscripts by the master of Les Primitifs Flamands Jan van Eyck. This reconstruction project has required an investment of €3,000,000 and the dedication of a team of experts in the figure of this brilliant artist, author of the Mystic Lamb or the Ghent Altar, the most coveted and looted work of art in history. . The reconstruction of this precious codex has been carried out for more than 15 years by a group of restorers, illuminators and researchers specialized in the work of Jan van Eyck. Once the damaged folios were illuminated by hand, they have replaced the reconstructed line drawing with the drawing of the original folio photographed in real size in 1902. "We are now able to resurrect a lost manuscript of universal art", Clément de Vasselot de Régné, doctor in medieval history, Sorbonne University – Lille. The Jury of the National Competition has awarded the First National Prize for the Best Edited Facsimile to the Collection Bibliothèque duc de Berry, made up of the Moralized Bible of the Limbourg brothers, the Very Rich Hours and the Great Hours of the Duke of Berry, as has been officially announced by the Ministry of Culture. This distinction recognizes the excellence of the efforts of this company in the restoration and edition of facsimiles of masterpieces.
