Spain falls to tenth place in the FIFA ranking

Brazil continues to lead the ranking; the world champion, Argentina, is placed second; and Morocco signs the highest promotion by points of 2022

MADRID, 22 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Spanish team has fallen to tenth place - it loses three positions - in the last FIFA ranking of 2022, after the World Cup in Qatar, a classification that continues to be led by Brazil and with Argentina, the current world champion, rising to second place.

The body has published its last ranking of the year on Thursday, after the conclusion of the World Cup held in Qatar, which crowned the 'Albiceleste' as the new champion. Leo Scaloni's (1838.38) are already second after moving up one position, just behind 'Canarinha', who will end 2022 as the team with the best score (1840.77).

They could have lost the 'throne' if the Argentines had beaten France in the final on penalties. That runner-up once again lifts the French to the podium (1823.39), to the detriment of Belgium, which becomes fourth. England, which was eliminated in the quarterfinals, completes the 'top 5'.

As the semi-finalists of the tournament - the first African team to do so - Morocco culminates the highest point rise in the table, increasing by 142 points over the last 12 months. For this reason, it rises 11 places and is placed eleventh. Out of a 'top 10' that closes the Spanish team, which drops three positions and borders on 1700 points. The next FIFA ranking will be released on April 6, 2023.
