Sánchez's partners point to the issue of trust as a way out of the president's reflection

MADRID, 25 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Parliamentary allies of the Government point to the issue of trust as the most advisable solution to the period of reflection that President Pedro Sánchez has opened to decide whether or not to continue leading the Executive. Some, like ERC or Bildu, are even already suggesting their willingness to vote in favor.

This parliamentary mechanism is regulated in article 112 of the Constitution, which establishes that the President of the Government, after deliberation by the Council of Ministers, may raise before Congress a question of confidence regarding his program or a declaration of general policy.

According to the Congress Regulations, the question of trust must be presented in a reasoned writing before the Congress Board and, once it is admitted, the Plenary Session must be convened for its debate, which will be similar to that of an investiture. No deadlines are detailed, but it is implied that everything can be done in a few days because it is specified that the vote cannot be carried out in the first 24 hours from the presentation. Confidence will be deemed granted when the vote of the simple majority of the deputies is obtained, that is, more yeses than noes.

As soon as Pedro Sánchez's letter opening that five-day parenthesis became known, former senator Pablo Gómez Perpinyà, autonomous deputy of Más Madrid, one of Sumar's parties, pointed out the option of the head of the Executive submitting to a question of confidence to close "the crisis of legitimacy" of the Executive due to the Amnesty Law.

Junts leader, former Catalan president Carles Puigdemont, similarly suggested that Sánchez, if his letter is not a mere "tactical move," "can always present a question of trust and clarify all doubts." Of course, he has not advanced his vote, beyond emphasizing that his formation is not going to be "a float of the PSOE."

And this Tuesday it was the president of the PNV, Andoni Ortuzar, who commented that the "simplest" solution to the current situation would be this question of trust, and he advised not to take too long to make the decision. "The sooner we do everything, the better," he said.

In his opinion, the option of dissolving the Cortes and calling elections is more complicated because we had to wait until May 30, since the Constitution prevents ending the legislature before the first year, and also holding election day at the end of July. . "We already experienced the elections a year ago under these conditions and it was very complicated for everyone," he acknowledged.

The president of the Generalitat and ERC candidate for re-election, Pere Generalitat, has indicated that he sees "no sense" in a question of trust when Pedro Sánchez's problem has not been the loss of support from his investiture partners, but a foreign topic.

In any case, if he were to run, the ERC spokesperson in Congress, Gabriel Rufián, has advanced that his party would be willing to support Sánchez. "We are never going to give wings to a cause promoted by fascism," he stressed in statements in Congress.

For his part, the general coordinator of EH Bildu, Arnaldo Otegi, has implied that his party would vote for the continuity of Pedro Sánchez, whatever he decides, because "he is not going to make way for the right." "Not us," he emphasized.

Likewise, the BNG deputy in Congress, Nestor Rego, did not want to advance events regarding possible exits, but he did highlight his commitment to the continuity of the coalition government as the "best" way to combat the PP.
