Sánchez receives Junts and, for the first time, he will take a photo with Bildu

MADRID, 13 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The acting President of the Government and candidate for re-election, Pedro Sánchez, will conclude his first round of contacts this Friday with a view to his investiture by receiving Junts, whose vote is key for his continuity in La Moncloa, and meeting for the first time with a representation of Bildu, in this case its spokespersons in Congress, Mertxe Aizpurua, and in the Senate, Gorka Elejabarrieta.

On October 3, when the King designated him as a candidate for the Presidency, Sánchez announced that he would make the first contact with all the spokespersons of the parties represented in the Lower House, except for Vox, the third group by number of deputies. And the next day he began meeting with his second vice president and leader of Sumar, Yolanda Díaz.

The European Summit held in Granada forced him to pause the round for two days but this week he continued his meetings on Monday with the president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, who was followed on Tuesday by the spokespersons of the PNV, Aitor Esteban, and BNG, Néstor Rego, and on Wednesday those from ERC (Gabriel Rufián), CC (Cristina Valido) and UPN (Alberto Catalán).

Until now, it was usual for Sánchez to delegate meetings with minority formations to his parliamentary spokespersons, but this time he has decided to take them on in person, at least in the first contact, and then give way to a negotiating commission that will specify details over time. starting next week.

That is why the last investiture 'photo' of the PSOE with EH Bildu starred Adriana Lastra, then number two of the party and socialist spokesperson, at the beginning of 2020.

It will be the first time that a President of the Government receives a delegation from Bildu, a coalition where the majority force is Sortu, the party that has the last head of ETA, David Pla, in its leadership.

Although there is no agreement sealed, the PSOE has the votes of the six deputies of the nationalist coalition, since from the beginning their spokespersons have made it clear that they will do whatever it takes to avoid an electoral repetition that could give the government to the PP and Vox.

The support of the seven Junts deputies seems more complicated, who demand amnesty and self-determination as essential conditions for an investiture agreement.

With this idea of giving normality to the PSOE's relations with the independentists, on Wednesday Sánchez's call to the ERC leader, Oriol Junqueras, was publicized, convicted by the Supreme Court in the cause of the independence process and later pardoned by the Government of coalition.

It remains to be seen if, as he has done with Junqueras, Sánchez will also decide to call the leaders of Junts and Bildu, groups led respectively by the former Catalan president Carles Puigdemont, who resides in Belgium after fleeing Spanish justice, and Arnaldo Otegi.
