Sánchez attends the international indie music festival 'Cala Mijas': "Very proud of the cultural power of Spain"

The acting President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, attended this Friday the international indie music festival 'Cala Mijas', which in its second edition welcomes more than 70 national and international bands and artists.

"Amazing atmosphere and good music at @CalaMijasFest. Very proud of the cultural power of Spain. We are a country with enormous musical talent and the first world tourist destination for music festivals. With @lorimeyersband, @thestrokes, @cariniopop and the entire lineup Great!", Sánchez has published in a message on the X social network, collected by Europa Press, along with several photos with some artists and accompanied by his wife, Begoña Gómez.

Among the groups that have performed tonight are Cariño, Lori Meyers, The Storkes, Underworld, M83 and Delaporte, among other prominent bands.

According to a statement from the PSOE, Spain is the leading tourist destination for music festivals worldwide. 900 are held a year, including classical music cycles, and all of them generate approximately 500 million euros per year and the creation of 300,000 permanent and temporary jobs.

Among some examples, mention is made of BBK Live in Bilbao, which generated 20.5 million euros, and Primavera Sound in Barcelona of 150 million. In the first edition of Cala Mijas, in 2022, 107,000 people from 50 countries attended and the festival achieved an economic impact in the area of ​​20 million euros.

With his attendance at 'Cala Mijas', Pedro Sánchez wanted to support the cultural and economic impulse produced by the organization of festivals in Spain, in addition to underlining the Government's support for these events. According to the statement, last year it reached four million euros (1.8 million for competitive competition and 2.1 million in nominative through CCAA and municipalities).
