"Preliminary demining of the city has been launched," he said in statements to the Russian television channel Rossiya 24, where he stressed that the city has been "liberated" by Russia.
In this sense, he has qualified that "it is important to carry out a complete and exhaustive demining" of the area, although he has clarified that it is a "difficult" job that entails risks given the "escalation of hostilities that have taken place nearby".
For this reason, he stressed that the priority of the local authorities is to "supervise all the areas where civilians may remain" to guarantee their safety just one day after the Russian Ministry of Defense indicated that as a result of the actions of the battalions of the Wagner Group, with the help of the Ursian artillery and aviation, the city is now under the control of Moscow.
Russian President Vladimir Putin himself has congratulated the Army and the mercenaries for taking over the town and has indicated that all those involved "will receive distinctions" at the state level.
