Valencia, March 28, 2023. Recycling coffee capsules in a simple and automatic way is now possible thanks to Recycap® Technologies S.L. technology. The Spanish startup thus enters the market with the intention of developing and marketing its pioneering REACTTM technology , thanks to an investment of up to 400,000 euros from Veos Ventures, S.L., a Spanish-American accelerator fund.
Coffee capsules are becoming increasingly popular in Western Europe and North America, especially for preparing quality coffee at home. In fact, its turnover is growing exponentially, going from 9,920 million dollars in 2021 to 12,330 million in 2022. Around 39,000 capsules are produced around the world every minute and more than 5 million capsules are used in Spain alone. day. However, only 10% of these are recycled, which means that 25 tons of capsules with coffee inside are sent to landfills every day without being able to be recycled.
Recycap® Technologies, founded by entrepreneurs Eduardo Pérez, Vicente Oller and Constantino Llobel Durá, allows consumers to recycle their aluminum coffee capsules at home or in the office and throw the empty capsules in the usual recycling bins thanks to its Recycap Automated Coffee Technology (REACT™) system.
REACT™ is a patented technology that allows the removal of grounds from coffee capsules, making it easy to recycle aluminum capsules. To do this, it is based on a mechanical system that allows the coffee to be easily cleaned from the capsules, leaving the aluminum or plastic capsules empty and ready for recycling. In this way, Recycap® devices are innovative and fully automated integral solutions for recycling coffee capsules for domestic and commercial use.
