OTTAWA, ON, May 23, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- General Dynamics Mission Systems-Canada has officially unveiled its most advanced suite of distributed acoustic processing solutions, including the UYS-506 sonobuoy processor, at Combined Naval Event 2023 in Farnborough (UK).
This launch places General Dynamics among the first in the world to offer and commission a distributed acoustic processing system that can be housed in autonomous vehicles, enabling real-time data transmission with other airborne or naval platforms and ground stations. With this enhanced interoperability, operators and decision makers can achieve greater range without sacrificing exceptional target detection and identification capabilities.
General Dynamics has recently deployed this new technology. The company was subcontracted earlier this year to support General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc. (GA-ASI), developer of the MQ-9B SeaGuardian®. General Dynamics now provides the necessary acoustic processing technology for the GA-ASI SeaGuardian to perform various tests to review its suitability for crewed and uncrewed missions.

Using advanced processing techniques, the General Dynamics UYS-506 sonobuoy processor minimizes the bandwidth required to transmit data from the aircraft to the ground station without decreasing system performance. The complete suite being deployed includes small form factor on-board processing, distributed acoustics technology, quality of service data management, and field-proven intelligence exploitation software. All this with the support of crew training and post-mission analysis and exploitation capabilities.
This new set, which includes the UYS-506, will be on display at Combined Naval Event 2023, which will be held in Farnborough from 23-25 May 2023.
