TOKYO, May 25, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- Casio Computer Co., Ltd. today announced the launch of the A120WEST, a collaboration model inspired by the Netflix mega-hit Stranger Things.
Stranger Things is a Netflix mystery-adventure series set in a small-town America in the 1980s. In 1983, a young boy disappears into thin air from a sleepy Midwestern town in the United States. As friends, family, and the local police search for answers, they find themselves drawn into an extraordinary mystery involving top-secret experiments, terrifying supernatural forces, and a very strange little girl. A love letter to the classics of the 80s that captivated an entire generation.
The new watch design was inspired by Stranger Things, a show with many references to '80s culture. Based on the A120, a watch inspired by Casio digital watches released in the 1980s, the design pays homage to the 'Upside Down', an alternate dimension that exists parallel to the human world.
The watch face represents the world of the characters from Stranger Things, with bold and colorful face buttons reminiscent of the 1980s with a Demogorgon appearing in the center, just as it appears in the human world. When the LED light button is pressed, the name of the program is revealed printed upside down, implying the presence of another world on the other side. The case back and translucent strap are designed with eerie tentacles that reach out from the underworld, evoking the connection between the two worlds.
The special packaging is illustrated with images of the cast of young characters from the show.
Stranger Things seasons 1-4 are now streaming globally on Netflix.
