Putin's party sweeps the elections in the newly annexed territories after complaints of fraud

United Russia wins in most regions of the country

MADRID, 11 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) -

United Russia, the party of current Russian President Vladimir Putin, has dragged in the country’s regional elections, in which the newly annexed territories of Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporiyia and Jershon participated, amid complaints from independent organizations of irregularities and fraud.

In Donetsk, Lugansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson, which had a turnout between 65 percent and 76 percent, United Russia obtained between 74.6 percent and 83.1 percent of the votes, according to data of the Russian Electoral Commission cited by the TASS news agency.

During the voting in these territories, attacks and incursions by Ukrainian drones have been reported, and one of them managed to destroy a polling station in Zaporizhzhia this Sunday night.

In Moscow, the country's capital, the authorities have recorded "the highest participation in 20 years" with 43 percent and which has helped the current mayor, Sergei Sobyanin, to win thanks to 2.2 million votes received.

According to the agency itself, the regions of Khakassia and Chukotka are the only ones in which the elected leader, in this case Valentin Konovalov (of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation) and Vladislav Kuznetsov (of United Russia) have obtained less than 70 percent of the votes.

In fact, Khakassia is the only region in which Putin's party has not won.

Voting has lasted up to three days in most regions of Russia, with the exception of Omsk, which lasted two, and Tyumen, Bashkiria and Buryatia, which lasted one day.
