The Princess of Asturias will begin next week, on August 17, her military training at the General Military Academy of Zaragoza (AGM) with a special study plan compared to that of the other cadets, since she will study two courses in one year and will have , like his father Felipe VI, the infantry specialty.

This was detailed by the Acting Defense Minister, Margarita Robles, during a visit this Friday, August 11, to the AGM facilities to find out in detail about the military and academic training of the princess. "We want to give the maximum normality to the presence and training of the princess at the Academy," she said.

The general director of the AGM, Manuel López Pérez, has explained that the particularity of the specific study plan of the Princess of Asturias is that, as established by Royal Decree 173/2023, Leonor will enter the first promotion along with 612 cadets but , on October 7, the day of the Jura de Bandera, will go to the second promotion.

This Royal Decree 173/2023, which regulates the training and military career of Her Royal Highness the Princess of Asturias, also marks Leonor's specialty in her curriculum, infantry, and some specific subjects of the same.

Robles has assured that "everything is ready" to receive "Her Royal Highness, the Princess of Asturias", who is called to hold the leadership of the Armed Forces, so that "she knows very closely what training and military career".

He stressed that "military training is very demanding, and demanding, but at the same time gives leadership qualities and, above all, values, humanity and camaraderie, which I believe are very important."

Likewise, Robles wanted to highlight the "effort" and work carried out by the AGM to adapt the curriculum to the princess so that she can study two courses in one year, the only particularity she will have. In the rest, she has assured that there is "the maximum desire for her to be on an equal footing with the rest of her colleagues."
