The Princess of Asturias, Leonor de Borbón Ortiz, will be decorated on October 31 with the medals of the Congress and the Senate after her oath of the Constitution and she will be invited to inaugurate the second edition of the Book of Honor of the Lower House.

The presidents of the Congress, the socialist Francina Armengol, and the Senate, the 'popular' Pedro Rollán, will be in charge of imposing these medals on the Princess of Asturias once she has sworn the Magna Carta before the Cortes Generales, which will meet in a solemn session on the 31st, coinciding with the eighteenth birthday of the daughter of the Head of State.

The oath is provided for in Article 61 of the Constitution, which establishes that the Crown Prince, upon reaching the age of majority, will take an oath to faithfully perform his duties, to uphold and ensure the observance of the Constitution and the laws, and to respect the rights of citizens and autonomous communities.

That October 31, the Kings and their daughters will arrive at the Carrera de San Jerónimo at eleven in the morning, escorted by the Royal Guard Squadron, where they will be forming the Honors Battalion, four companies of the Land armies, Navy, Air and Civil Guard with Flag, squad of spenders, band and music. Upon arrival, they will be received by the acting President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, and the Chief of the Defense Staff (JEMAD), Teodoro Esteban López Calderón.

After receiving military honors from the podium, the Head of State will review the Honors Battalion, after which he will go with the Queen, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía to the steps of the Congress Palace, where they will be received by the presidents of the Congress and the Senate.

Next, the Royal Family, preceded by the presidents of both Chambers, will enter the Queen's Lobby through what is known as the Lions' Gate, where they will greet the presidents of the Constitutional Court, Cándido Conde Pumpido, and the General Council of the Judiciary. , the member Vicente Guilarte.

In the Hall of Lost Steps, the Kings and their daughters will greet the members of the Congress and Senate Boards, after which the authorities will access the stage of the chamber, accompanying the Royal Family to the Presidency of the Session Hall.

The Solemn Session of the Cortes Generales will begin with the interpretation of the National Anthem, which will be followed by the speech of the president of Congress. This speech will include a reference to the agreement adopted by the Council of Ministers on October 10, 2023, which requests the holding of the joint session of the Chambers to take the oath referred to in article 61 of the Constitution by the Crown Princess.

At the end of his speech, the third authority of the State will ask deputies and senators to stand up and will ask the Princess of Asturias to take the oath in accordance with the Spanish Constitution. After the oath, the president will acknowledge the oath and will adjourn the session.

In the 1986 ceremony, after the oath of Prince Felipe, the then president of Congress, the socialist Gregorio Peces Barba, finished by cheering for Spain, the King and the Constitution.

At the end of the event in the chamber and after the imposition of the decorations, the Royal Family will greet all those invited to the event in the Hall of Lost Steps, including the vice presidents and acting ministers, the dean of the Diplomatic Corps, the presidents of the autonomous communities present, the four former presidents of the Government, the leader of the PP as head of the opposition, the parliamentary spokespersons, the rapporteurs of the Constitution and the former presidents of both chambers.

Also present at the ceremony will be the mayor of Madrid, the president of the Council of State and the Court of Accounts, the Attorney General of the State, the Ombudsman, the Secretary of State for Relations with the Cortes, chiefs of the General Staff, the delegate of the Government of Madrid, deputies and senators and other guests.

Those who have already announced that they do not plan to attend the ceremony are the members of ERC, Junts, Bildu and the BNG, who do not recognize political authority to the king and who have already 'planted' the head of state in their rounds of consultations for the investiture .

After the greetings, the Royal Family, together with the representatives of the high institutions of the State and the autonomous communities, and the Tables and spokespersons of the Congress and Senate, will stand on the steps of the Palace, from which they will witness the parade through the Race of San Jerónimo of the group of the Armed Forces and Civil Guard.
