Page rejects that the amnesty brings "a change of cycle in the independence movement" and warns: "Either reaction, or referendum"

TOLEDO, 25 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The president of Castilla-La Mancha, Emiliano García-Page, has considered that introducing the amnesty into the equation of the Catalan conflict "is a problem", stating that "it is not true that the amnesty brings a change of cycle in the independence movement due to repentance ". Along these lines, he has assured that if there is no reaction, "the next step after the amnesty will be the self-determination referendum."

In an interview with the newspaper La Razón collected by Europa Press, he said as proof that there is no repentance that "an initiative that continues to talk about independence is being processed again in the Catalan Parliament, despite the fact that this resulted in a logical judicial and police response, and a strong reaction from the rule of law."

"This initiative of the Catalan Parliament confirms that the amnesty is an invitation to try again, but with a weaker State. It is not true that the amnesty brings a change of cycle in the independence movement due to the repentance of those responsible for the 'procés' , and regarding the intentions of the independence leaders, we cannot allow ourselves to be naive because of the cost it has for our rule of law," he added.

That is why he has called for that reaction. "And a party like the PSOE has a historical responsibility because we owe it to what we have always represented as a basic element of the structure of Spain."
