Otxandiano reproaches that PSOE "has lent itself" to taking out ETA in the campaign, like the extreme right against Sánchez

He regrets that ETA always "appears" in elections and says that he meets with "victims of all kinds"

BILBAO, 19 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) -

EH Bildu's candidate for Lehendakari, Pello Otxandiano, has regretted that "ETA always appears" during the electoral period and has assured that he meets with "victims of all kinds." "We must build bridges and not dig trenches," he added. Furthermore, he considered it "quite strange" that the Socialist Party "has lent itself to this" when it is the framework used by the extreme right to "overthrow the Government of Pedro Sánchez."

In statements to Radio Popular, collected by Europa Press, the candidate for the sovereign coalition has warned that all of this is "an issue that the extreme right in Spain permanently uses to hinder any political and social progress."

"From that point of view it seems quite strange to me that the Socialist Party has lent itself to this, when it is precisely the framework of the extreme right used to hinder and even neutralize or overthrow the government of Pedro Sánchez," he assured.

In his opinion, "when the polls are tight, all kinds of strategies must be enabled," but it is "an issue sensitive enough to be left out of the electoral context." "We must build bridges and not dig trenches," he concluded.

Furthermore, he has expressed satisfaction with the campaign carried out by EH Bildu in recent weeks, although he has regretted that there has been a tendency to take certain issues "to the mud", in reference to the debate that has arisen in recent days due to his statements regarding ETA. .

"It is a pattern that is repeated in each election. ETA always appears and it really begins to surprise me, because it has been more than 12 years since the disappearance of ETA. I think we have to look at the past, we have to build the future by looking to the past, to build a plural memory and for that you have to read all the pages of the modern contemporary history of this country, but in a climate outside the electoral context because there is always a temptation to use this with an electoral spirit," he indicated.

In his opinion, not doing it this way does not contribute to "the construction of coexistence, nor to the construction of a plural memory, nor to the reparation of the victims."

"I try to act that way and I believe that we have a job to do. I meet with victims of all kinds. I believe that there are possibilities, there are wills on the part of many people to move forward and I believe that there are new conditions, because We belong to another generation," he said.
