Otegi warns Sánchez: "You cannot always depend on the independentistas without talking about the territorial structure"

It opens to support an investiture of Sánchez so that there is no electoral repetition and contacts with "someone" from the PSOE have already begun

BILBAO, 25 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The general coordinator of EH Bildu, Arnaldo Otegi, has warned the acting head of the Executive, Pedro Sánchez, that "an alternative that always depends on the independentistas cannot be built, without starting to talk about the national problem, the problem of territorial structuring and nations without a state, with absolute normality and serenity".

This is how Otegi has pronounced himself in an interview with Radio Euskadi, collected by Europa Press, about the electoral results of this 23J, also assessing Junts' decision to invest Sánchez, warning the socialist leader that he has to be "aware" that he has to do things to make it easier for the Catalan parties to support him.

In this context, Otegi has affirmed that his formation has already spoken "with someone" from the PSOE and has assured that they have a "predisposition" to speak in order to "establish and articulate a solution in the coming weeks" to the "difficult arithmetic" so that there is a Government in which "the reactionary right" of PP and Vox is not present.

Thus, he does not rule out that the deputies of EH Bildu vote yes for the investiture of the PSOE leader, Pedro Sánchez, if necessary, and has assured that, if it is for them, there will be no electoral repetition. "If there is something that the Basque people have decided this Sunday, above political acronyms, it is that they do not want a PP and Vox government in the Spanish State, because we are independentistas and, as long as we are not independent, we will continue to be part of the Spanish State," he added.

Otegi has considered that Catalonia has also "voted en masse" against a right-wing Executive in the State. In any case, he has said that it will have to be Junts, who has it in his power to tip the balance at this time, "the one who decides."

"But also the State, the Government, Sánchez and the PSOE, will have to be aware that they have to do things to facilitate an investiture by the Catalan parties. I have asked everyone to exercise responsibility and to make little noise and work hard. We are going to work hard," he stressed.

This is the reflection that he would transfer to the former president of the Generalitat, Carles Puigdemont, although he would also tell him that he "absolutely and scrupulously respects what he is going to decide." "I consider that the priority of our peoples in these elections and the priority message that they have launched has been that. Now, I do say that the ball is also in the court of the PSOE and the Government", he stressed.

Arnaldo Otegi has stated that EH Bildu has spoken "with someone" about the Socialist Party. "In my case, yesterday I spoke with Jesús Eguiguren. We maintain a parliamentary relationship with the PSOE in Madrid, and everyone knows that the pro-independence left talks to absolutely everyone who wants to talk to it," he said.

After admitting that "the parliamentary arithmetic that has emerged in the State" after the general elections is "a bit complicated", because of his party "it will not be" that there is not a progressive government that prevents an Executive of the PP and Vox.

"We have been clear on that, we have not gone equidistant, we have not left any kind of space for ambiguity. We have said that if the reactionary right can be stopped, we are going to stop it. Therefore, this is our predisposition, we must speak, and what can be a solution must be established and articulated in the coming weeks," he stressed.

After assuring that they will comply with "the popular mandate" not to let "the reactionary right" govern, he added that they do not set "prices or red lines in public" to support, for example, the Government of Pedro Sánchez.

Asked if he has received a WhatsApp from the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, who has already contacted various formations, including the PNV, he stressed that, perhaps, the popular candidate "had some hope" that the jeltzales "would enter into some kind of operation" with his party, "but it seems that the door has been closed on him."

"We have always campaigned, and I think it is evident that everyone in the country knows that we and the Popular Party do not enter into the same equation, in any case," he indicated.

As he has insisted, they have made a bet, "from the beginning, to close the door to the reactionary bloc", while the PNV "has tried throughout the campaign to make a certain distinction between the PP and Vox, saying that, if it is with Vox, that is a red line".

"For us, the PP and Vox are part of the same reactionary block that is going to apply a reactionary program. Is Mr. Feijóo more moderate than Mr. Abascal? In what? In what way is he going to repeal the Historical Memory Law, in which he is going to repeal all the Laws of the Ministry of Equality, in which he is going to respect the Basque nation more and its right to decide? No, it is practically the same. And in economic and social policies they are exactly the same," he asserted. ado

That is why, as he explained, they have not made "any distinction" between the PP and Abascal's party. "They are part of the same block and, therefore, Vox does not make the PP better," he remarked.

Arnaldo Otegi has referred to the results of EH Bildu in the past elections to affirm that it is always said that they have reached a "ceiling", but they continue to grow. "And we are going to grow in the autonomous communities, I take it for granted, always being as prudent and humble as possible", he highlighted.

The leader of EH Bildu has stated that, in fact, they are already "the second political force" in the Basque Autonomous Community and Navarra, "and not far from the PSE-EE and PSN either, in polarized general elections and in which many people have voted with fear to try to avoid Vox".

In any case, he does believe that they are "the left kilometer zero". "We are here, the decisions are made here and they are made by the people who work and live here. We are all part of what the Basque citizens have decided, but there is a substantial difference and that is that some of us have our decision-making centers in the country, and others consider that the decisions must be made in the State", he insisted.

Arnaldo Otegi has assured that another difference between EH Bildu and the PNV lies in the fact that the jeltzales "have supported practically all the governments in the Spanish State, from that of Felipe González, to those of Mariano Rajoy and José María Aznar or Rodríguez Zapatero".

"We have only reached specific agreements with one government and it is a singular government, because it is the first in a coalition since the Second Republic in the Spanish State and because, within that government, there was a political force called Podemos, which defends plurinationality and the right to self-determination," he stressed.

For this reason, he has specified that they are not in "competition" with the PNV, but that they would like there to be a collaboration on "country issues to jointly defend in Madrid."
