MADRID, 17 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, has assured the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, that he "will not stop" the war in the Gaza Strip until he destroys the administrative-military potential of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), which controls the Palestinian enclave.

"The prime minister has made it clear that Israel has been attacked by vile and brutal killers, has gone to war determined and united, and will not stop until it destroys the military and governance capabilities of Hamas," reads a statement published by the Netanyahu's office on the social network X, formerly known as Twitter.

The Kremlin has indicated that Putin has spoken with the head of the Israeli Government about the exacerbation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, condemning the actions of which civilians are victims, as reported by the Russian news agency TASS.

The Russian president has reported on the measures adopted by Moscow to normalize the situation in the region, avoid a further escalation of violence and prevent a humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip.

In addition, he has had telephone calls with the president of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmud Abbas; the president of Egypt, Abdel Fattá al Sisi; that of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi; and that of Syria, Bashar al Assad, to whom he has conveyed his willingness to promote a diplomatic solution to the conflict.

Abbas, for his part, thanked his Russian counterpart for his "position in support of the rights of the Palestinian people and a comprehensive and just peace in the Middle East in accordance with resolutions of international legitimacy."

Putin has also stressed his support for the Palestinian people's right to freedom and independence from their State with East Jerusalem as its capital, while reiterating the importance of stopping the fighting, providing humanitarian aid and not displacing Palestinians outside. of his country.

In this sense, the Palestinian president, who has rejected the killing of civilians "on both sides", added that the displacement of Palestinians would be "a second catastrophe for the Palestinian people, similar to that of 1948", while making emphasizing that "peace and security can only be achieved through the implementation of the two-state solution."
