Navarrese farmers block traffic and try to access Parliament, but the Provincial Police prevent it

PAMPLONA, 7 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) -

A group of dozens of Navarrese farmers have blocked traffic and tried to access the Parliament of Navarra this Thursday around 10:20 a.m. during the debate on the General Budgets of the Community for 2024, but the Foral Police have prevented it.

Farmers have gathered since early Thursday morning in front of the regional Parliament. Once the debate began, they crossed from Paseo de Sarasate towards the Legislative headquarters, cutting off traffic and trying to access Parliament, but the Provincial Police prevented them. There have been moments of tension in which officers have had to use batons. Subsequently, the situation has calmed down, although traffic remains closed.

In the Budget debate, two 'in voce' amendments relating to the situation of farmers had been presented, one from UPN and another from the Government partners.

The partners of the Government of Navarra (PSN, Geroa Bai and Contigo-Zurekin) and EH Bildu have refused to process the UPN amendment that sought to "bring closer" the taxation of farmers in Navarra to those of Álava.

Yes, that of the Government partners has been admitted for processing, which contemplates the temporary imputation in the Personal Income Tax (IRPF) of the compensation from agricultural insurance received in 2023 to compensate for loss of income from the activity.
