Medvedev calls Britain Russia's "eternal enemy" and calls Britain's military a "legitimate target"

MADRID, 31 May. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The former Russian president and current vice president of the country's Security Council, Dimitri Medvedev, has described this Wednesday the United Kingdom as Russia's "eternal enemy" and has affirmed that the military and senior officials of the British Army can be considered, therefore, " legitimate target" of Russian troops.

"British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly has said that Ukraine has a legitimate right to defend itself beyond its borders to undermine Russia's ability to project its force in Ukraine. For him, there are legitimate military objectives beyond Ukraine's borders. as part of his self-defense", Medvedev said in a message through his Twitter account.

In this sense, he has warned the British military that "they must remember that within the framework of International Law (...) their status can be considered as one proper to war."

"Today, the United Kingdom acts as an ally of Ukraine and supplies it with military aid in the form of equipment and specialists, therefore, 'de facto', it is leading a covert war against Russia," he asserted before qualifying that "in this case, these senior officials could be considered objective".

It is not the first time that Medvedev has launched threats against third countries in the context of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
