Marcos Alonso renews with FC Barcelona until 2024 with a 50 million clause

BARCELONA, 27 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Defender Marcos Alonso renewed his contract with FC Barcelona this Friday and will remain at the Blaugrana club until the end of the following season, with a contract termination clause of 50 million euros.

"FC Barcelona and the player Marcos Alonso have reached an agreement to renew his contract until June 30, 2024. The termination clause is set at 50 million euros," the Blaugrana club announced in a statement.

Marcos Alonso, together with the 'culé' president, Joan Laporta, and the first vice president, Rafa Yuste, signed the extension of his contract for the following 2023/24 campaign at the Spotify Camp Nou offices.

Signature that was also attended by the vice president of the Economic Area, Eduard Romeu, the football director, Mateu Alemany, and the sports director Jordi Cruyff.

The defender arrived in Barcelona in the final stretch of the summer transfer window and, in this first half of the season, the center-back and left-back has played 19 games, with 2 goals scored. He made his debut in LaLiga Santander in the victory at Cádiz (0-4).

The renewal was announced, practically, a few hours before the club by the coach, Xavi Hernández, at the press conference prior to Saturday's game in Girona. "It's something that was being talked about. I'm very happy with Marcos," he said.

"First, as a professional because he has adapted in an extraordinary way. And as a footballer he is solvent, proven, with the maturity to play in different positions. He is a high-level signing, little by little he is becoming important and will be so in future games, safe", predicted the Blaugrana coach.
