Asks Aragonès for self-criticism: "O rectification, or elections"

BARCELONA, 27 Sep. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The president of Junts in the Parliament, Albert Batet, has stuck out his chest this Wednesday that his party has "done more in four weeks than in four years" ERC, on the negotiations for an investiture of the acting president of the Government, Pedro Sánchez.

This is how he expressed himself in his intervention in the General Policy Debate in Parliament. Batet has welcomed the president of Catalonia, Pere Aragonès, to dialogue and negotiation for amnesty and self-determination, but at the same time he has told him: "For four years they have had 13 decisive deputies and more has been done in four weeks than in four years."

The parliamentary leader of Junts has assured that there is an "alternative that is being visible in recent weeks" to what he has called a strategy of false dialogue and --verbatim-- falsely closed agreements.

"It is not about saving investitures or the governability of the Spanish State," said Batet, who has maintained that guarantees of compliance with the agreements are needed and has defined 1-O as a victory.

In addition to reproaching the Catalan president for the tone used to reply to him, he has considered that he has acted as "head of the opposition of the opposition" and has criticized him for not having brought his proposal for a clarity agreement to the Parliament or for having explained the proposal in the Chamber. of modification of the Penal Code.

Batet has asked Aragonès to self-criticize his government direction and has warned him that it only makes sense to exhaust the legislature if there is a change of direction: "Either rectification, or elections."

In his speech he criticized that the Government is "weak" and that it does not have the confidence of the Parliament, in his words.

"Without a doubt, governability has gotten worse in every sense. It was inevitable with a Government of 33 deputies," added Batet, who reproached Aragonès for not having taken the necessary decisions and measures, in his opinion, on issues like drought.

In this sense, Batet has warned the president of the Generalitat that if he had "kept his word, he would now maintain the support of a pro-independence majority, he would have parliamentary stability and a strong Government", in reference to the departure of Junts from the Executive. Catalan in October 2022.

"We have already warned you that, if you do nothing, a year from now you will be even worse, more isolated, weaker and in more agony," warned Batet, who has urged the Government to solve the problems and know how to take advantage of the opportunities. .
