Judges and justice professionals from at least 15 provinces have demonstrated in recent days against 'lawfare'

MADRID, 26 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Justice professionals such as judges, prosecutors, lawyers, solicitors and lawyers from the Administration, among others, have participated in rallies in recent weeks in at least 15 provinces throughout the entire Spanish territory against the PSOE and Junts agreement, which includes the amnesty law and references to 'lawfare'.

The protests have been spreading in recent days in several autonomous communities after knowing the details of the agreement between PSOE and the independentists that refers to the amnesty and the judicialization of politics.

These concentrations began in several provinces of Andalusia, the community in which protests against this agreement have developed the most, and have spread to more regions, in addition to several declarations from judicial bodies against the agreement.

This is the case, for example, of the president of the Provincial Court of Álava, Mercedes Guerrero, who, during a rally, denounced that "judicial independence is hurt" and "at stake", since "if the judges do not resolve" in accordance with the legal system and with total independence", there is no "freedom in society".

In turn, the judges of First Instance of Barcelona agreed by majority to support the statement in which some eighty senior judges from Spain, including those from their city, showed their rejection of "references to 'lawfare or judicialization of politics'." and its consequences" in the investiture agreement signed by PSOE and Junts.

The first concentrations that were held were in Andalusia, just the day before Pedro Sánchez's inauguration. These concentrations took place in Córdoba, Seville, Algeciras (Cádiz) and Jaén. That same day they also occurred in Salamanca, promoted by provincial audiences or senior courts.

Later they followed one another in different provinces of Andalusia, such as Malaga and Granada, in favor of judicial independence, as they have been proclaiming.

At the same time, around fifty judges, prosecutors and other justice professionals gathered on Thursday in Bilbao "in defense of judicial independence" and against lawfare, and have expressed their concern that there is an attempt to "justify "The Amnesty Law" on judicial misconduct.

In Palencia, judges from the province took to the streets last Monday to ask for non-interference of some powers in others, thus joining the statement of the four associations of judges that reject any type of judicialization of politics.

Also last Monday, about a hundred judges, prosecutors and lawyers from Toledo gathered in front of the courts of the capital of Castilla-La Mancha to ask for respect for judicial independence and show their commitment to the separation of powers.

And in Cáceres, almost fifty judges, prosecutors, lawyers and solicitors have gathered at the doors of the court building for the independence of the judiciary and against references to that 'lawfare'.

In Ciudad Real, more than fifty judges, prosecutors, lawyers and solicitors gathered in front of the doors of the Courts to show their commitment "to the rule of law" and their defense of the "separation of powers" after the political agreement reached between PSOE and Junts.

More than a hundred people, including magistrates, judges, prosecutors, lawyers and solicitors, along with other operators in the judicial field, also gathered at the doors of the Valladolid Palace of Justice, headquarters of the Provincial Court, to show their most energetic rejection of the politicization of Justice.

In Navarra, the president of the Superior Court of Justice (TSJN), Joaquín Galve, at the request of the General Board of Judges of Pamplona, called a rally "in defense of judicial independence and the rule of law."

Under the motto 'Without the rule of law there is no democracy', a hundred Justice professionals have gathered in Albacete to defend "absolute respect for the division of powers."
