Joselu monopolizes the premiere of Spain with De la Fuente

MADRID, 25 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Spanish soccer team beat Norway (3-0) this Saturday at the start of the Euro 2024 qualifying phase, held at the La Rosaleda stadium, the premiere of the 'De la Fuente era' with three points, a game without showing off and a happy rookie like Joselu with a double in a minute.

Espanyol forward, Kepa Arrizabalaga, in goal; Dani Olmo for his goal after 13 minutes and Dani Ceballos's entry at the end were the highlights in a Spain that played in fits and starts and that gave thanks to Sorloth's lack of aim. The 'Red' thus adds three points, the same as Scotland, in Group A.

The new era with Luis de la Fuente, three months after the World Cup in Qatar, had some fortune to begin with, beyond not having to face Haaland. A deflection by Leo Ostigard sent Dani Olmo's heel into the net after 13 minutes, after a good and patient Spanish play, from one side of the pitch to the other.

Spain had no problems gaining possession at the start and the script left Norway locked up, almost in their area on the play of the goal. Mikel Merino fought a ball that seemed lost, Carvajal put it to Morata, the captain confirmed the change of band to Balde and the winger put it into the pot for Olmo.

The three-time European champion, who has not lost a qualifying match at home for two decades, found the goal before football and suffered certain disconnections. Spain commanded and circled the rival area when they pressed up and recovered the ball, but they also suffered from behind with the rival departure of Odegaard and Sorloth.

Without Haaland, the Real Sociedad striker was the one who gave work to a hostess who, in a loss by Laporte, almost conceded Sorloth's goal. Aursnes forced a great save from Kepa, while Spain appeared as best they could, giving entry to the second line and the wings, but without monopolizing the game, much less the danger.

La Rosaleda, who accompanied the wave from almost the beginning, did not become demanding with the new team, but in the second half it was difficult to carburize. Iago Aspas, in his international comeback almost four years later, had his only chance in the 50th minute, after a spectacular center with the outside of Dani Carvajal.

However, De la Fuente didn't take long to make changes, Oyarzabal and Ceballos inside, with Norway's feeling of danger in a play that forced Nacho and Kepa to take the ball out almost on the goal line. Spain sought possession, but in another Sorloth robbery, Kepa, savior under the sticks, began to establish himself as the best.

There was still half an hour left and De la Fuente checked his wardrobe. Ceballos finished stirring up the midfield, but the finisher was missing, for which the coach made Joselu debut. After Sorloth showed again that he is not Haaland, the 'parakeet' striker signed a brace to make it 3-0 and leave the closest resemblance of the night to the absent Manchester City striker.

With three minutes on the field, Joselu sent a header to the net from Fabián's cross, another revulsion, and shortly after, in a steal by Yeremi and a shot by Oyarzabal, the rebound sought the Espanyol striker. Norway fell apart and Spain celebrated a good starting point, with the second chapter on Tuesday against a Scotland that beat their duel against Cyprus with another 3-0. DATA SHEET.
