Israel bombs Syria again in response to previous attempted attack on Golan Heights

MADRID, 2 Abr. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Israeli Army bombed Syria again this Tuesday morning in response to a previous attack attempt from Syrian territory, without either action resulting in material damage or casualties, and only a few hours after a bombing Israeli attack on the Iranian Consulate in Damascus ended the lives of at least six members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.

"Following the alert in the north of the country recently, a suspicious aerial target has been identified heading towards Israel from Syria, the target was shot down in Syria and did not cross into the country. The event has concluded," the Army published Israeli on his social network account X, formerly Twitter.

Following this, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights has reported an Israeli bombing of a military post in the town of Maariya, in the southern governorate of Daraa, in response to the launch of a missile against the occupied Golan Heights.

The Golan Heights are a territory that Israel seized from Syria during the Six-Day War (1967) and the Yom Kippur War (1973) and that it effectively annexed in 1981, in a movement not recognized by the international community. .

The Israeli authorities, who have not commented on this new bombing, recognize attacks in Syria arguing that they act to prevent the establishment of Iranian bases and the sending of weapons to Hezbollah by Tehran, which supports the Syrian president, Bashar al Assad. , within the framework of the war that broke out in 2011 after the violent repression of pro-democratic demonstrations within the framework of the 'Arab Spring'.
