Iberdrola has received subsidies for 130 million euros from the 'Next Generation' funds until the end of the first quarter of the year for energy transition projects led by the group.
According to the data presented this week by the company corresponding to this first quarter of the year, these projects mobilize an investment of about 400 million euros, of which about 130 million euros correspond to aid.
Among these projects, the 'Castellón H2 Verde' project stands out to promote renewable hydrogen in the BP Castellón refinery through a 25 megawatt (MW) electrolyser, with an investment of around 60 million euros, receiving 15 million euros in aid.
In addition, it has raised another 30 million euros for the deployment of the infrastructure of electric charging points for vehicles, trucks and storage in Spain and Portugal, with an investment of 150 million euros.
Also within the commitment to renewable hydrogen are the 5.5 million euros for the Foresa project in Galicia, through an electrolyser for the production of green methanol of 5.5 MW and with an investment of 15 million euros, and Lipsa -a 2.5 MW electrolyser in refineries in Catalonia-, with 4 million euros for an investment of 11 million euros.
Likewise, the energy company has also raised another 5 million euros for a heat network in Palencia with biomass, whose investment amounts to 35 million euros, as well as another 70 million euros for various collaborative innovation projects -smartgrids, system flexibility , offshore wind, AI, smart solutions and green H2- in which it participates, and in which the investment will exceed 100 million euros.
On the other hand, the group chaired by Ignacio Sánchez Galán has a portfolio of projects, whose investment exceeds 3,000 million euros, pending subsidies.
These include projects of common European interest for electrolysers of up to 800 MW in Puertollano and Palos, with an estimated investment of around 1,800 euros.
It also has the green hydrogen projects of Green Meiga -a 150 MW hydrogen production system with an electrolyser to produce 100,000 tons/year of green methanol in Galicia-, of Sines (Portugal) to produce green ammonia, the production of industrial green heat in Tarragona, that of its 1.6 GW solar panel factory in Extremadura, with an estimated investment for all of 1,200 million euros.
In addition, it has six storage projects in existing photovoltaic plants in Extremadura, Castilla y León, Castilla-la Mancha and Andalusia, with a planned investment of around 100 euros; as well as circular economy projects for wind power repowering, renovation of mini-hydroelectric plants and recycling of blades, with an investment of around 200 million euros.
