High temperatures and a probable west wind will once again complicate the work on the Villanueva de Viver fire

A south and southeast breeze is expected, which will intensify until reaching gusts of 40 km/h, according to Aemet

CASTELLÓN, 25 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The high temperatures forecast for this Saturday and the probable west wind will once again complicate the tasks of extinction of the Villanueva de Viver (Castellón) fire, after tonight the troops have prevented the perimeter of the fire -- 40 kilometers -- from and the footprint of the fire -which already affects 4,000 hectares- advances and reaches the CV-195 highway, which connects the towns of Montán and Montanejos.

This has been confirmed, after the analysis meeting at the Advanced Command Post (PMA) of the different operations involved in extinguishing the fire, the regional secretary for Security and Emergencies of the Generalitat, José María Ángel, who has pointed out that the weather conditions will make the work to stop the advance of the flames "much more difficult".

For this Saturday, about twenty airmen and 500 troops in total will work in the fight against the fire in this area of Alto Mijares. In fact, Ángel has assured that "throughout the morning" the aerial means will be incorporated "in a sequential manner" to carry out "very precise and concise" charges.

Likewise, he added that the aerial means have received the indications of the terrestrial means, which during the night have detected the hot spots of the fire. "The aim is to do joint work between air and ground resources to continue reducing the evolution of the fire", she remarked.

During the night, the land resources have been working on the right flank, in the Montán and Montanejos area, where they have carried out containment tasks in order to prevent it from jumping the CV-195 highway. In addition, actions with technical fire have been carried out on time, the Castellón Provincial Firefighters Consortium has indicated.

Media from different administrations continue to work on extinguishing tasks this Saturday, including the Castellón Provincial Council Firefighters, firefighters from the Provincial Consortiums of Alicante and Valencia, from the Castelló, Valencia and Alicante City Council, forest firefighters from the Generalitat, personnel from the AVSRE, the Government of Aragon and the Ministry's BRIF.

Also on the ground are members of the Civil Guard, Local, National and Autonomous Police, Civil Protection of the Provincial Council, technical unit of the Department of Agriculture, staff of the Department of Health and the Red Cross.

According to the prediction of the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), for this Saturday a change in wind is expected compared to previous days. Thus, it is expected that in the morning a breeze from the south and southeast will begin to enter the area of the fire, which will intensify until reaching gusts of 40 km/h during noon.

The weather conditions forecast for the morning in the area of the fire are "less adverse" than those of the past two days, although it is expected that changes could occur this afternoon, which will begin on the west flank of the fire.

Aemet has warned that it is possible that this afternoon the wind will turn to the west on the left flank of the Villanueva de Viver fire, which would lead to a drop in relative humidity and convergence of wind in some areas of the fire that could intensify the vertical currents .

This Saturday night has been meteorologically "quiet" in the area of the Villanueva de Viver fire, where a light wind has been registered at dawn, with a predominance of the northwest, a temperature that has dropped from 10º and a humidity higher than 80 per cent. hundred.
