'Génova' tries to mitigate the debate on the clash with Vox in Extremadura and recover the initiative in the campaign

Feijóo will travel to Valencia tomorrow to present his health proposals to the generals, after two days announcing measures

MADRID, 26 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The national leadership of the PP tries to mitigate the debate opened this last week around the clash with Vox in Extremadura and seeks to recover the initiative in the campaign after a week with "too much noise", in the words of some leaders of the formation. In fact, Alberto Núñez Feijóo will travel to Valencia tomorrow to present his health proposals, his third day focused on electoral announcements after stopping in Salamanca on Sunday to publicize his measures for families or this Monday in Barcelona to advance some economic measures.

"I am not going to contribute to stretching the gum," a member of the PP leadership categorically assures Europa Press in private, who believes that this issue must be "punctured" and not contribute to "inflating the ball" as the Socialists want.

For now, party officials consider that there has been a twist in the script after the PP candidate for the Presidency of Extremadura, María Guardiola, has lowered her tone towards those of Abascal, assuring in a letter to the militants that it is "essential "dialogue, respect and the programmatic agreement with Vox.

In addition, Guardiola postponed until a new date the Autonomous Board of Directors and the Regional Executive Committee convened for this Tuesday to address the situation after the failed negotiations with Vox evidenced in the constitutive session of the Assembly in which the PSOE took over its Presidency.

"Common sense has prevailed. At this time, that Board of Directors could only contribute to continuing with the circus," added sources from the party's leadership, who believe that if Guardiola corrects the situation well and becomes president of the Board of Extremadura, his statements in recent days and his strategy of confrontation with Vox will be forgotten.

Other sources of the national leadership emphasize, however, that Guardiola has not said at any time that it is not necessary to agree with Vox in Extremadura, but rather that he did not want to "put them into the Government." "Agreeing with Vox there is a necessity. There is no other choice," add the aforementioned sources.

Some PP officials privately assure that Guardiola has been "touched" with his strategy of clash with Vox, in which he has also "pointed out" other party colleagues with statements such as that he could not let "those who deny sexist violence" and those who "throw the LGTBI flag into the bin". "It is a lack of respect for Mazón, who has had more elegance than her," maintains a Valencian position.

The sources consulted agree that Guardiola has "backed down", a movement that coincides with the end of the professional relationship with who has been his campaign adviser, Santiago Martínez-Vares, after making public an audio in which he acknowledges that he has no other "obsession" in life than "to end Vox".

"Genoa has called Guardiola's attention and she has backed down. Today's step sounds like a slap on the wrist. It leaves her touched unless she manages to redirect the situation and govern," sums up a PP leader, who is convinced that the PP pact -Vox "does not penalize" the party while warning that forcing new elections in Extremadura gives the socialist Guillermo Fernández Vara an option to recover his absolute majority. SECOND WEEK WITHOUT MATCH MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE

Meanwhile, Feijóo is focused on presenting some of the measures that will be part of his electoral program at party events. Thus, this Sunday he traveled to Salamanca, where he raised a pact to support motherhood, childhood and conciliation, with measures such as a four-month permit for parents with children from 0 to 8 years old, a bank of hours and tax discounts .

This Monday, he traveled to Barcelona to advance some twenty economic measures that he will implement if he arrives at the Moncloa Palace, such as an audit of public accounts, a reduction in personal income tax, a restructuring of European funds, a training check for the unemployed or a PERTE from the tourism sector. This Tuesday, Feijóo will go to Valencia where he will present the health measures that he will include in his program.

For the second week in a row, this Monday there was no meeting of the PP's steering committee and, therefore, the traditional subsequent press conference with the media has not been held either, something that in 'Genoa' they attribute to the fact that they are focused on preparing for the election campaign.

Officially, sources from the national leadership of the PP assure that they "respect the autonomy of their regional presidents and their negotiating practices" and defend the policy of "asymmetric" pacts with Vox, depending on each territory based on the results of May 28.

In addition, the aforementioned sources reject that what happened this week in Extremadura "stresses" or "harms" Feijóo in the face of the generals campaign because, as they argue, what is becoming clear is that, unlike Pedro Sánchez with his partners, the PP "is not "submissive" to Vox.

"This blows up the argument of the PSOE. The difference between sanchismo and us is evident. We do not submit the majority to the whim of the minority," emphasize sources from Feijóo's team, who deny that they are "uncomfortable" with this framework taking into account the Sánchez pacts "with Bildu or ERC".
