FIFA limits commissions to footballer agents and prohibits multiple representation

MADRID, 6 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) -

FIFA will establish from next Monday, January 9, a new process for obtaining licenses to practice as a soccer agent, in which, among other things, it limits commissions and prohibits multiple representation.

Thus, the new FIFA Regulations on Football Agents approved by the FIFA Council last December will be "an important step to establish a fairer and more transparent transfer system in the world of football", according to the organization. president of world soccer.

The regulation establishes minimum service criteria between soccer agents and their clients. Among other measures, it imposes a mandatory licensing system, prohibits multiple representation to avoid conflicts of interest and applies a limit on commissions.

In this way, FIFA intends to "strengthen contractual stability, protect the integrity of the transfer system and achieve more transparency in all financial matters."

Although the process enters into force next Monday, a transition period has been defined that will last until October 1 of this year. As of that date, only the services of licensed soccer agents may be contracted and the limit on agent commissions will apply.

The approval of the FIFA Regulations on Football Agents stems from an open consultation process carried out by FIFA since 2018 in which all relevant stakeholders have participated.
