Fernando Alonso unleashes the illusion also leading Free Practice 3

MADRID, 4 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Spanish driver Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin) has also led the third and last free practice session of the Bahrain Grand Prix, the first round of the Formula 1 World Cup, after beating the current world champion, the Dutch Max Verstappen, by only five thousandths (Red Bull).

In a Free Practice 3 held in conditions that are not very representative -with 40ºC- of what the drivers will find in the qualifying session and in the race on Sunday, the Spaniard, who on Friday also led in the second free practice sessions, rose to the most top of the time table with a time of 1:32.340 on a soft tyre.

The sensations in the Aston Martin box are getting better and better, although the Red Bulls are very close; Verstappen finished just five thousandths behind the also two-time world champion, while the Mexican Sergio 'Checo' Pérez was third to one tenth.

In addition, the British Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) was ahead of the two Mercedes, with the Monegasque Charles Leclerc completing the 'Top 5' two tenths behind the Asturian and with the Madrid Carlos Sainz eighth, behind the British George Russell ( Mercedes) and Australian Lance Stroll (Aston Martin), shooting after his wrist operation.
