MADRID, 19 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) -
The Spanish driver Fernando Alonso (Alpine) has assured that the objective this Sunday at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the last round of the Formula 1 season, is to "finish seventh or eighth", something possible by still having two sets of tires hard.
"It hasn't been a good time trial. In Q1 we went to the limit, and then in Q2 we were eleventh by a few thousandths. That's what we had today, let's see if we can come back tomorrow," said the two-time world champion in statements to DAZN after the qualifying session at Yas Marina.
In addition, the Spaniard explained that the penalty on the grid for Australian Daniel Ricciardo (McLaren) will allow him to start somewhat better positioned this Sunday. "We are going to start tenth, because Ricciardo has three sanctioned positions from Brazil, so starting tenth we are already in the points," he said.
"We will try to make a good strategy, we have two tough ones, while the others only have one, so finishing seventh or eighth tomorrow is still the objective. We must finish the year with a good taste in our mouths", he concluded.
