Feijóo says that he has "no problem" in debating: "There will be a face-to-face between Mr. Sánchez and me"

He says that the debates "are negotiated, not forced" and attributes his "occurrence" to the fact that he cannot go out on the streets or mobilize the PSOE

The leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has assured this Tuesday that he has "no problem" in debating with the President of the Government and has stressed that before the general elections on July 23 he is willing to hold a face to face with Pedro Sánchez . After assuring that the debates "are negotiated, not forced", he has attributed this "occurrence" of the chief executive to the fact that in the campaign "he cannot go out on the streets" or "hold many rallies because he cannot mobilize" the PSOE.

"I have no problem having a face-to-face debate with Mr. Sánchez. There is going to be a face-to-face between Mr. Sánchez and me in the electoral campaign. I hope Mr. Sánchez accepts a face-to-face with the president of the PP ", Feijóo stated in an interview on Onda Cero that Europa Press has collected, one day after the offer by the President of the Government to hold six debates until the elections on July 23.

When expressly asked if he is afraid of debating with Sánchez, Feijóo has flatly denied it and has indicated that the "occurrence" of holding six debates is due to the "urgency" of the head of government at this time. "This reminds me of a script for some western movie, I challenge you on Monday at such an hour, for the next six Mondays," he ironized.

In this sense, he stressed that electoral debates "are negotiated" between the campaign teams, "they are not forced or established by an interested party." "I understand Mr. Sánchez's strategy, he cannot go out on the streets but that is not my problem and he cannot hold many rallies because he is not capable of mobilizing his party, but that is not my problem either", he emphasized.

In any case, it has guaranteed that it will be debated "in the form and content that is agreed, especially once it is known who are the people who are running for the elections and who are their leaders." Thus, it has been asked who is going to present himself on behalf of Podemos and on the part of Sumar, and if "there will be a Sumar-Podemos or not".

In the same way, he has asked "who are the people who are going to accompany Sánchez in this coalition" which, according to what he has said, before "was called Frankenstein and now it seems that it is called Kleenex because he is not at all interested in those who have governed with him" in this legislature.

Therefore, Feijóo has indicated that, once the candidacies are cleared, it is necessary to do what has been done "always", that the campaign teams meet and establish the "formulas for debate."

"But I already say of course that it will be debated, I am not going to hide from Mr. Sánchez, among other things because we probably have the same times here," he said, referring to the parliamentary debates this past year in the Senate where Sánchez had unlimited time compared to the rated time of the groups.

ASKS TO BE "RESPECTFUL" WITH THE DEADLINES AND THE PROCEDURE

As for whether it will be a face-to-face with Sánchez or a debate with leaders of more parties, Feijóo has indicated that "you have to be respectful of the deadlines, with the formulas and with the procedure." "Of course it will be debated but the debates are not forced, the debates are negotiated", he has abounded.

Feijóo explained that electoral campaigns "are rallies, street events" or "sectoral events" and added that he wants to "carry out an electoral campaign despite the date chosen unilaterally" by the chief executive for the elections.

In addition, he has indicated that at this time, more than the debates, it is "more elementary" to know the document that the Government will send to the European Union for an amount of about 90,000 million euros with the "milestones, obligations and commitments of the Spanish " that the PP "does not know" and about which "it does not have any information". "And if there is a change of government, we have to comply with it. That is a debate that affects all Spaniards and not the Spanish Pedro Sánchez," he exclaimed.

In the same way, he has indicated that in the coming weeks several regional presidents who have to execute the European funds will take office and "none" of them "knows absolutely nothing about the commitments they are going to assume once they take possession of their charges".

"But it is that not even the current regional presidents who did not have elections, who did not have elections, know what is the content and scope of what they must do with those funds," he complained, to criticize that in this country "playing with a series of headlines and eccentricities" when what people "care about" are issues such as that relating to European funds.

In addition, he stressed that Spain is at the gates of an EU Presidency and there is no agreed agenda between the opposition and the Government as was done in the past. "Therefore, a gentleman who has been President of the Government, and still is, for five years, who has not wanted to discuss State affairs with the opposition, has no legitimacy to impose or specify proposals of this type" , he has stated, to reiterate that he is willing to discuss with Sánchez before July 23.
