Feijóo promises a 4-month permit for parents with children from 0 to 8 years old and another 5 working days a year

SALAMANCA, 25 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The president of the Popular Party and candidate in the next general elections, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has stated that "having a son or a daughter cannot be a luxury" and has presented a battery of measures to promote the birth rate and favor reconciliation.

The proposed measures include guaranteeing the right of workers to enjoy a four-month leave before their child reaches the age of eight, a leave for caregivers of 5 working days a year, increasing paternity and maternity leaves to 26 weeks in single-parent families and a bank of hours in companies.

This has been outlined in an act on family and social policies organized by the PP at the Colegio Arzobispo Fonseca in Salamanca, which has been closed by the national leader of the 'popular' after the interventions of the president of the PPCyL, Alfonso Fernández Mañueco, the deputy secretary of Social Policies and Demographic Challenge of the Popular Party, Carmen Fúnez, and representatives of collectives.

Regarding the announced measures, he has indicated that one of them is to "strengthen assisted reproductive services in healthcare" and another "to give bonuses to employers and companies when they hire a working mother and when they hire her indefinitely".

Likewise, it has advocated increasing the amount and scope of the benefit for dependent children, "which may be collected from the fifth month of pregnancy", and the fourth to which it has referred is to "increase the family minimum of Personal income tax attributed to the second child".

"If we do these four things, I am convinced that we are going to improve the birth rate in our country", he added before also speaking of reconciliation with initiatives that he has also made known to those present at the meeting held in Salamanca.

Given this, he has advocated "guaranteeing the right of workers to enjoy a four-month permit before their son reaches the age of eight" with the intention that they can face "eventualities".

Likewise, he has defended a leave of five working days a year for caregivers and extending maternity and paternity leave to single-parent families to 26 weeks; and another measure proposed by Feijóo is to promote "an hours agreement" that employees can "choose freely in accordance with the company" and, with that "hours bank", "to be able to dedicate it to conciliation".

On the other hand, regarding an education block, he has indicated that the schools are "closed for a long time, especially during the holidays and during the bridges", and has stated that "it would be reasonable to open them for sports activities or reinforcement activities , extending the hours and, consequently, making it easier for families to use the facilities".

In addition, Núñez Feijóo has influenced his proposal at the national level to promote free early childhood education from zero to three years of age that is "co-financed" by the central government and the different autonomous communities.

Finally, in terms of social networks, it has said that "access to the Internet and social networks for minors cannot be left unprotected by public administrations". "It is time to return control of the content of their children's education to parents," she said.

And, for this, it has urged to agree with companies in the sector "an ethical code that regulates access from mobile phones to certain information on the networks" to prevent the entry, for example, of pornographic content and abuse on the networks.
