Feijóo, on whether Abascal can be his vice president: "My goal is to appoint a vice president of my Government"

He says he is "happy" with the agreements they are making after 28M and stresses that the Spanish "did not deserve" the date of 23J

The leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, affirmed this Wednesday, when asked if he could appoint the leader of Vox, Santiago Abascal, vice president of the Government, that his objective is to appoint a vice president, without clarifying if in the event of arriving at the Palacio de la Moncloa, its Executive could have more Vice Presidencies.

During an interview on 'El Hormiguero', the presenter of the program, Pablo Motos, has assured that the Spaniards need to know before going to vote if the vice president of the Government can be Abascal. Feijóo has refused to respond, alleging that "no one can appoint a minister without having been sworn in as president" because he would act "arrogant".

"What I will tell you is that my objective is to appoint a vice president of my Government and I know who she is. And I also know who the Minister of Economy is," he stated, adding that both "are very good" but he was not going to reveal their names.

At another point in the interview, he has confirmed that he will reduce the Ministries if he arrives in Moncloa because "with 14 ministers Spain works better than with 22", while he has advanced that if Equality governs it will depend directly on the Presidency of the Government.

On whether he has red lines to agree with Vox, he has indicated that he is part of a party that respects the Constitution and rights and freedoms, which "are not negotiable." "I say it with all honesty and respect. I am not Pedro Sánchez. I am not going to agree with Bildu", he has proclaimed.

Thus, he has made it clear that he is not going to negotiate health, education or the autonomous State. "I am not going to negotiate sexist violence, because after 14 years as president of Galicia drawing up laws against sexist violence, making pacts against sexist violence, I am not going to discuss it," he has settled.

Immediately afterwards, he stressed that there are two approaches to the elections on July 23: continue with Bildu, ERC, Sumar and Sánchez after "five years of trouble", or vote for the PP. "If you want a change, I assure you the change", he has asserted himself.

AGREEMENT BETWEEN PP AND VOX IN THE VALENCIAN COMMUNITY

When asked if he is happy with the pacts between PP and Vox after the May 28 elections, he has assured that he is happy with the pacts they are making and has highlighted that the Popular Party has given the mayoralty of Barcelona to the socialist Jaume Collboni.

He has also indicated that his formation has allowed the Provincial Council of Guipúzcoa to go to the PNV and the PSOE, they have reached an agreement with the CC in the Canary Islands and in Cantabria the PP governs thanks to the abstention of the Cantabrian Regionalist Party.

In the specific case of the agreement in the Valencian Community between the PP and Vox, he stressed that the fact that his party "vetoed" the Vox candidate, Carlos Flores, sentenced "20 years ago for verbal abuse against his ex-wife", "is "a guarantee that sexist violence" is taken "seriously".

As for whether it is not an assignment to talk about domestic violence, he has indicated that if in that document it were said that sexist violence does not exist, it would seem "inadmissible" but "sexist violence is not touched and emphasis is placed on domestic violence ".

Regarding the approaches of the new president of the Valencian Parliament, María de los Llanos Massó, Feijóo has recognized that they do not share his anti-abortion, anti-vaccination or climate change convictions, which should be reconsidered.

"We do not agree with these types of issues and we deeply disagree with some ideological thoughts because my party is not Vox," he added.

EXPRESSES ITS SUPPORT FOR MARÍA GUARDIOLA AND UNDERSTANDS HER REACTION

Regarding the case of Extremadura, after the negotiations with Vox ran aground a few days ago, he has expressed his support for his candidate, María Guardiola, whom he has said he loves and will continue to support. Having said this, he has indicated that there was an agreement with the leaders of Vox in the region but that formation undid it when national leaders traveled to Extremadura, alluding to Jorge Buxadé, and that is why "the indignation" or "rage contained" in their statements.

"If I reach an agreement with you and a man who commands more than you comes and tells me that the agreement is not worth it, maybe I will react inappropriately," he added, alluding to Guardiola's blunt tone last week.

ABOUT THE ADVANCE: "THE SPANIARDS DID NOT DESERVE THIS DATE"

The president of the 'populares' has assured that if the people want there to be change in Spain in the general elections on July 23, the guarantee is to vote for the Popular Party. "And if they vote for me enough, I guarantee that the government will belong exclusively to the PP," he asserted.

In addition, he has confessed that he is concerned about participation in the elections on July 23 as it coincides with the holidays. In his opinion, Pedro Sánchez when choosing that date "does not seem" that electoral participation is being sought. "The Spanish did not deserve this date", he exclaimed.

Feijóo has reproached Sánchez for alleging that he also called elections in Galicia in July when, according to what he has said, the Galician and Basque elections were going to be in April but the pandemic forced them to be postponed until the experts recommended it. And an election in the north of Spain is not the same as in territories like Andalusia, where it is prohibited by law to hold elections in summer due to the heat, he stressed.

With just over a week to go until the electoral campaign officially starts, Feijóo has stated that if the citizens want change, he assures them of change. "If the Spaniards want, I can be the first Prime Minister born in rural Spain", he stated, adding that he was born in a town of 300 inhabitants.

As he has recounted, in his 14 years at the head of the Xunta he has tried to "unite the Galicians" and for a little over a year, who is at the head of the PP, tries to "unite the party", after the internal crisis that ended with the leadership of Pablo Casado. "And if the Spanish want, I will try to unite Spanish society", he added. In addition, he has indicated that the Moncloa Palace is on the A Coruña highway and it is "a good place" for a Galician to go and live on that road.

When asked why "sanchismo" is, the head of the opposition has resorted to part of the words used by the President of the Government in the interview he conducted the day before in 'El Hormiguero': "The person on the set defined it good: evil, lies and manipulation. I agree, why are we going to argue".
