Feijóo accuses Sánchez of wanting to overshadow the victory of the PP and calls for an "incontestable majority" for a "new direction"

He says that Spain has said "enough" this May 28 and highlights "Spain is already summoned to repeal sanchismo in 54 days"

The leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, considers that the head of the Executive, Pedro Sánchez, by advancing the general elections, wants the victory of the PP in the municipal and regional elections to go "unnoticed", although he has admitted his satisfaction with this step because "better sooner". That said, he has called for an "incontestable" majority in the July 23 elections for a "new course" in Spain because "the Sanchismo has not yet been repealed."

"The Spaniards have said enough, we have come this far," Feijóo declared in an appearance at the PP headquarters, after three hours earlier Pedro Sánchez had announced that electoral advance and said that he assumes the defeat of May 28 in first person.

The president of the PP, who has congratulated his party and the citizens for the electoral triumph this Sunday, has stressed that the PP has won in nine of the 12 CCAAs that held regional elections and has surpassed the PSOE in 31 provinces and as many others provincial capitals, opening government alternatives in practically all the territories.

According to Feijóo, the result of May 28 "has been the most powerful and, at the same time, the cleanest expression of the great desire for change that exists in our society." "We must respond clearly to those who propose a legislature more of the same at the polls," he added.

In this sense, the leader of the PP has indicated that Spain "is already summoned to repeal sanchismo in 54 days" and has stressed that there is another way of doing politics "in form and substance". "Sanchismo has not yet been repealed. I ask from now on for a clear, incontestable and forceful majority to start a new course", he has proclaimed.

In his opinion, the "first step" to put an end to the management of Pedro Sánchez was taken this Sunday, although the Prime Minister "wants the results obtained" by the PP "to go unnoticed." In any case, he has shown his "satisfaction" with the fact that the results have resulted in the calling of general elections. "Better as soon as possible", he has emphasized himself.

Feijóo has indicated that five years of the PSOE government with Podemos, Bildu and independentistas have been "enough". In his understanding, the "damaging consequences" are visible to all and are part of "an exhausted model" that, in his opinion, must "end forever."

The head of the opposition has indicated that Spain wants to "turn the page" and "begin a while", in a path that, in his opinion, is "unstoppable". "A little over a year ago I obtained the confidence to be president of the PP. Today I ask for the confidence of the citizens to be the next president of the Government of Spain," he demanded.

In his appearance, Feijóo has criticized the time that Sánchez has lost for having missed the opportunity to clear up electoral uncertainty at a key moment for Spanish foreign policy and for not having made the regional and municipal elections coincide with the general ones. "Neither has the Presidency of the Council of the European Union been immune to this unfortunate way of understanding politics", he has censured him.

ASKS THE LEADERS OF CS TO REFLECT

The PP leader, who has assured that he has spoken this morning with the president of Vox, Santiago Abascal, has affirmed in relation to the possible negotiations with Vox that in the leadership of the PP they will be "respectful of each other's powers and with the reality that emerges from the ballot box".

As for whether the PP is willing to make an offer for Cs leaders to join the Popular Party after the result of the oranges in the elections, Feijóo has indicated that these months they have contacted the people and positions of Cs who " in each territory" they "seemed that they could contribute" to the lists, as in Andalusia, Valencia or Aragon.

"Therefore, it is what we have done before the elections, without cheating or cardboard. Now those who have not joined our lists, either because we have not offered it to them or because they have not considered it appropriate, they have to do the reflection on whether they continue to be useful for political change in Spain or, on the contrary, they could harm political change in Spain", he stated.

In this sense, he has indicated that it is "obvious" that there are some cities and councils that, as a consequence of the percentage of vote, obtained by Cs "without representation", will mean that the PP does not have an absolute majority in those places. "I don't think that was what the citizens wanted, both as a party and as voters," he added, to insist that Cs is a "democratic party" and it is up to him to make the decision that he "deems appropriate."

MOTTO "A PREPARED SPAIN"

Before a packed press room, Feijóo has appeared with a new motto: 'A Spain prepared'. He was accompanied by all the members of the party's management committee, who this morning welcomed him with applause and stood up before the meeting after this Sunday's results.

PP sources consider that with this step, what Sánchez is looking for is that "his territorial barons" not devour him after the results on Sunday and that "there is no talk of the beating" of the PP against the PSOE in the elections. In addition, they have asked themselves if they want a high participation in the general elections by placing the elections in the middle of July, "with half of Spain spending the summer."

Faced with the possibility that the campaign seizes the PP in full negotiation with Vox, sources from Feijóo's team have recalled that the PSOE negotiations "are also with Bildu." The socialist María Chivite needs the abertzale formation to maintain the Government of Navarra.
