FC Barcelona denies having skipped the rules to award the works of the Camp Nou

BARCELONA, 23 Ene. (EUROPA PRESS) -

FC Barcelona denied having skipped the internal regulations of the club and having participated in an irregularity regarding the process of adjudication of the works of the new Spotify Camp Nou, and ensures that the requirements were updated and that the winning company, the Turkish company Limak, complies with all of them.

Denying the information from one medium, the club calls it "false" that the bidding contract prevented a company like Limak from being able to participate in the competition, since it had not previously built a stadium with at least 40,000 spectators.

"The specifications for the tender for the reform works of the Spotify Camp Nou have been communicated to all the companies that applied and have a valid date of September 1, 2022. This specification does not establish a requirement to be able to be a winning company that should have built a soccer field with more than 40,000 seats or two constructions referring to Spain," defends the club.

It does recognize, however, that prior to this bidding process there was a process that began in 2017 that was canceled in December 2020. "It is not until September 2022 when the new bidding process began through which the Obras as the best valued company to LIMAK", argues the entity.

Similarly, the club argues that Limak could present himself based on the requirements set by the current Board of Directors, despite the fact that the information cited some documents from 2017 that, based on them, did prevent Limak from opting for the fiefdom works. blaugrana.

"The pre-qualification to which it refers is based on documents from 2017 that were part of a tender for the construction of the field with the old Project, from the previous Board of Directors," reiterates the club.

In accordance with the final pre-qualification requirements established in the specifications dated September 1, 2022 by the current directive, "all the companies participating in the tender were eligible to participate."

On the other hand, regarding the fact that this alleged non-compliance would make it difficult for the Barcelona City Council to obtain a building permit, the club also denies it. "The process of obtaining a building permit with the Barcelona City Council is totally independent from the adjudication process of the company that will carry out the construction. In no case is the building permit at risk because the holder of this is FC Barcelona as promoter of the works, not the construction company", concludes the club's statement.
