LLEIDA, 13 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) -
ERC de Lleida plans to sign Xavier Estrada Fernández, a referee who has sued the former vice president of the Technical Committee of Referees (CTA) of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) José María Enríquez Negreira for alleged sports corruption in payments for advising the FC Barcelona.
This was explained this Monday at a press conference by the ERC spokesperson and deputy general secretary, Marta Vilalta, who has pointed out that it is a proposal pending approval by the ERC in Lleida, and that its assembly must ratify.
Vilalta has maintained that Estrada is a benchmark in the Lleida sports field, linked to training and grassroots, and in "defending the values of integrity in institutions, including sports ones."
He has ensured that the lawsuit filed against Negreira was a "personal decision" by Fernández Estrada, which ensures that he reaffirms his commitment to cleanliness in sport.
However, he has stated that ERC will not enter into that decision and has insisted that its incorporation into the municipal list is pending "internal processes".
