ERC and Bildu are deleted from the minute of silence in Congress for the civil guards murdered in Barbate (Cádiz)

MADRID, 20 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The deputies of ERC and Bildu have chosen not to participate this Tuesday in the minute of silence that has been kept in the Plenary Session of Congress in memory of the two civil guards murdered ten days ago in Barbate (Cádiz) when they were run over by a drug boat. . Junts, the other pro-independence party in the Chamber, has not been present in the chamber either.

This tribute was formally proposed by Vox, although it was assumed by the main parliamentary groups of the Chamber. The president, the socialist Francina Armengol, has stressed that Congress "shares the pain of her family, colleagues and friends, joins the mourning of the State Security Forces and Bodies and wishes the speedy recovery of the injured civil guard."

The deputies stood up and observed a minute of silence at the beginning of the plenary session, at three in the afternoon, but many gaps could be seen in the chamber, especially in the middle of Sumar's group, including the first secretary of the Board, Gerardo Pisarello, and in the banks of ERC, Junts, Bildu and Podemos.

While the purple party assures that it was not a premeditated absence, sources from ERC and Bildu have confirmed to Europa Press that they have declined to participate considering that Vox intended to use the tragedy politically.

The absence of pro-independence deputies has not gone unnoticed by PP and Vox. The 'popular' spokesperson for the Interior, Ana Vázquez, has criticized that "Sanchez's associates are absent from the minute of silence for the civil guards murdered in Barbate and support for the Security Forces." "You have to be unworthy," she wrote on the social network X.

"We did not expect less from the Government's partners: between workers and criminals, always with criminals," added Vox spokesperson Pepa Rodríguez de Millán.

The tribute has been massively supported by PP, PSOE and Vox, although President Pedro Sánchez or his ministers were not present, nor were the leaders of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, and of Vox, Santiago Abascal. And on the blue bench of the Executive all the seats were empty.
