ERC and Bildu advance their rejection of the reform of the 'gag law' and put the PSOE and Podemos text in check

MADRID, 14 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) -

Esquerra and Bildu, the pro-independence partners of the Government, have confirmed on Tuesday their rejection in Congress of the reform of the Citizen Security Law approved by the Government of Mariano Rajoy, known by its detractors as the 'gag law', considering it "insufficient "The changes agreed by the PSOE, Unidas Podemos and the PNV. "It is a light reform", they maintain.

After passing through the presentation, where the text went ahead thanks to a last-minute decision by ERC, the reform is voted on Tuesday in the Interior Commission but, without the vote of these two government allies, the reform could not come out forward given the announced opposition of the PP, Vox, Ciudadanos and the other groups.

Thus, the leader of Podemos and Minister of Social Rights, Ione Belarra, has requested in an interview on TVE collected by Europa Press that the Interior Commission be postponed until there are possibilities of an agreement, and has taken the opportunity to criticize the " closure" of the PSOE in this matter, blaming it for the clash with the allies, by forcing the meeting of the parliamentary body.

The points that ERC and Bildu do not accept refer to the prohibition of the use of rubber balls by the Police, which the Interior does not want to endorse; the end of hot returns', which the Government prefers to undertake in a future reform of the Immigration Law; and some aspects of disobedience before authority, highly contested by police unions.

"We will not be accomplices of a light reform that does not repeal the most harmful articles and keeps the core of the law intact - say the spokespersons for the Interior of ERC and Bildu, María Dantas and Jon Iñarritu -. This proposal falls far short of commitment of repeal that we assume eight years".
