Those from Southgate thrash Senegal and serve up an attractive quarter-final clash against the champion

MADRID, 4 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The English soccer team defeated Senegal (3-0) this Sunday to reach the quarterfinal round of the World Cup in Qatar 2022, where they will face France in a tremendous poster for next Saturday, after an exhibition at the Stadium Al Bayt.

England presented their candidacy in a forceful cross although they began suffering, but which extended their great group stage as undefeated. The African champions dominated until the 40th minute, with Pickford's saving save on Boulaye Dia, but the 'Three Lions' team went to half-time 2-0 in two blows.

After the break, Los Leones de la Teranga gave less sense of danger and, with the need to go up, Saka rounded off the English rout that Henderson and Harry Kane had started, in a great game also by Bellingham and Phil Foden.

The inventors of soccer found themselves with a complicated ballot before the African intensity. The European runner-up left a couple of arrivals on the left wing, tried to press up and had a shot from Stones, with the shoulder, in a corner kick in the 21st minute. Instead, Senegal put Dia in the rival area at the four minutes and the Villarreal player was on two other occasions.

In the second, after asking for a hand that was not granted, Sarr had a clear rejection to see the door, and the third, in a bad start by Maguire, forced Pickford's miraculous hand. Gareth Southgate's men suffered like never before in the World Cup, but in a couple of plays they showed the carats of their squad with the 2-0.

Foden and Kane generated the start on the left flank, where Bellingham attacked space and put the cross back for Henderson's 1-0 in the 38th minute. England punished in the first they had and took advantage of the rush while Senegal called for the time. Perhaps he asked for it fairly, because time was up when Kane made it 2-0, his first goal in Qatar 2022, in a perfect counter between Bellingham and Foden.

Aliou Cissé moved his eleven with three changes at the restart, but the African champion worried the 'Pross' much less. Southgate pulled the bottom of the closet to maintain the intensity of his own, with the entry of Grealish, Rashford and Mount, although it was Foden who messed it up again before leaving in a brilliant exit.

The Manchester City attacker, who surely entered the eleven due to Raheem Sterling's last-minute loss for personal reasons, claimed his place with another perfect run and drive, setting up Saka on goal. The Leones de la Teranga, who were looking to repeat the quarterfinals of 20 years ago, signed the surrender in a placid outcome for the English before the great battle.

England, which seems to be beginning to polish all its artillery, serves up an attractive crossover for next Saturday with Mbappé's champion France, who has scored five goals in the World Cup and dispatched Poland shortly before with a spectacular double (3-1 ).
