Enel has closed the sale of a 416 megawatt (MW) photovoltaic portfolio to the international renewable energy producer Sonnedix for 556 million dollars (about 525 million euros), as reported this Wednesday by the Italian energy company, the main shareholder of the Spanish company. Endesa.

Specifically, Enel has sold to Sonnedix its share capital of Arcadia Generación Solar, a Chilean company that has a portfolio of four photovoltaic plants in operation, with a total installed capacity of approximately 416 MW.

The operation has been closed after compliance with all the conditions precedent established in the share purchase agreement signed on July 12, 2023, including the authorization of the Chilean antitrust authority Fiscalía Nacional Económica (FNE).

Enel expects the transaction to generate a positive impact on the group's net debt of approximately 525 million euros and on the reported net result for 2023 of approximately 50 million euros. On the contrary, the transaction is expected to have no impact on ordinary financial results.

The company has highlighted that this operation is in line with its strategic priorities and contributes to its objective of improving the profitability of capital employed in support of future development plans.

The photovoltaic solar portfolio sold by Enel to Sonnedix is ​​located in the Atacama and Antofagasta regions, in northern Chile and is composed of the 'Diego de Almagro' (36 MW, operational since 2014), 'Carrera Pinto' (97) plants MW, operational since 2016), 'Northern Solar Field' (79 MW, operational since 2016) and 'Domeyko' (204 MW, operational since 2022).
