Echenique says goodbye to Congress vindicating Montero and the value of "noise" and will rejoin the CSIC

He will speak with the leader Podemos to address whether he continues at the top of the formation: "I will be where I am asked"

The spokesman for Unidas Podemos, Pablo Echenique, said goodbye to the Congress of Deputies this Wednesday and will request his reinstatement in the Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC) in a few days.

This has been transferred during his speech in the Permanent Deputation of the Lower House, in which he has defended the work of the Minister of Equality, Irene Montero, and has been proud of having said some "truths" and of "making noise". , given that it is the only way to "listen to those below".

"Today is my last intervention and my trip ends here. In a few days, I will request to return to active service at the CSIC to continue my work as a scientist," said Echenique, who, like Montero, does not repeat on the electoral lists of Sumar and criticized weeks ago having suffered an indirect veto by the candidacy headed by Yolanda Díaz for not appearing on the list for Zaragoza.

In subsequent statements to the media and asked about his future within the party Executive, where he is Secretary of Programs, he explained that he has to "discuss" this point with the general secretary of Podemos, Ione Belarra, and has made it clear that he will be "wherever asked", as it has always done over the years.

"What is clear to me is that I will always be a Podemos militant, and I will always work from my time as a militant so that Podemos does as well as possible," he explained.

Sources from Podemos have remarked that in no case will Echenique be "liberated" if he remains at the top of the party and Belarra asks him to stay. In this way, they emphasize that he will not receive a single euro from the training and his salary will be what he receives at the CSIC.

REPORTS THE "SHAME" OF NOT HAVING BEEN ABLE TO ACCESS HIS SEAT

During his speech in Congress, Echenique has also denounced that it is a "shame" that Congress had a parliamentary spokesman in a wheelchair and that a clear message has not been sent to society to adapt the chamber to people with disabilities, to so that he could occupy his seat with the rest of the bench of his group, as he has repeatedly demanded.

On the other hand, it has claimed several legislative measures during the legislature and that bear the seal of United We Can, such as the Euthanasia Law, the "historic" increase in the minimum wage, the deployment of the Minimum Vital Income, the Animal Welfare Law or the living place.

DEFENSE OF THE LAWS OF MONTERO

And specifically, he has praised the head of Equality, for deploying a "new and brave" wave of feminist rights such as the Trans-LGTBi regulations, the abortion reform and the Law 'only if it is yes', despite being "attacked by the judicial and media right" and "partially mutilated" by the agreement between the PP and PSOE to reform it.

After four years in Congress and leaving institutional politics, he has explained that the content of the extension of the anti-crisis decree, which is submitted for validation today, is a "good example" of the "tireless" and "hand in hand" work that its political space has unfolded throughout the legislature that ends.

For example, he has ruled that it is "obvious" that the new permits that are included would not be a reality without the presence of United We Can in Congress and without the "insistence" of Belarra, acting Minister of Social Rights.

LEAVES WITHOUT SADNESS

Echenique has emphasized that he says goodbye "without sadness", although aware that "many things remain to be achieved", and that he is "proud" of having promoted a "significant number" of advances that until "recently were thought to be impossible".

Then, he has reflected that it has been his "compass" never to forget those who, the people for whom he has worked from the seat and to whom he owes it, also defending that he carried out his work without thinking about his public profile or personal well-being, but rather about the construction of a collective and transformative project.

He has also ruled that "he has not been seduced by the tinsel" of public office "nor has the carpet stuck to him", to then joke that in his case he starts with an advantage because "he does not step on it directly".

IGLESIAS: YOU EARNED A VETO FOR BEING THE MOST COMBATIVE"

The former leader of Podemos Pablo Iglesias has praised Echenique's career through Twitter, who instead of taking care of his public profile decided to be "the bravest and most generous when it comes to facing the adversary, knowing that the media were going to crucify him." .

"You earned a veto for having been the most dedicated in all combats. Some will despise your brutal intelligence and say that a politician must protect himself, but you have never been a politician; you have always been a militant. You have never been a communist but you embody like nobody else the most valuable thing that communist militancy contributed: that intelligence without guts is just mediocrity", he highlighted.

"There is more dignity and heroism in your 40 kilos and in your fragile fingers handling a chair than in all the cynical and smiling politicians who progress and float like corks because they know how to hide during combat," Iglesias concluded.
