Andreu Van den Eynde will be in charge of the club's internal investigation

BARCELONA, 15 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The lawyer Cristóbal Martell will represent FC Barcelona in the Negreira case, knowledgeable sources have explained to Europa Press.

Other sources consulted by Europa Press have added that the club has commissioned an internal investigation to the lawyer Andreu Van den Eynde.

Martell defends the footballer Dani Alves in his case for allegedly sexually assaulting a girl at the Sutton nightclub and has also worked for the Pujol family, while Van den Eynde defended the former vice president of the Government and ERC leader Oriol Junqueras.

The club is being investigated as a legal entity in the case for payments to the former vice president of the Technical Committee of Referees (CTA) José María Enríquez Negreira, and Negreira himself, the former Blaugrana presidents Sandro Rosell and Josep Maria Bartomeu, the former directors of the club, are also being investigated. Óscar Grau and Albert Soler and the company from Negreira DASNIL 95 SL.

The Investigating Court 1 of Barcelona investigates this case for alleged corruption between individuals in the sports field, unfair administration and falsification of a commercial document after admitting a complaint from the Prosecutor's Office and a complaint by the referee Xavier Estrada Fernández.

The Prosecutor's Office estimates that from 2001 to 2018, Negreira collected more than 7.3 million euros in payments that allegedly did not correspond to real technical advisory services but to a "strictly confidential verbal agreement" to favor the club in arbitration decisions.
