Company sales moderate their fall in July to 3.8% and add four months of declines

MADRID, September 25 (EUROPA PRESS) - The turnover of companies fell by 3.8% last July compared to the same month in 2022, moderating by 1.1 points the interannual decline experienced the previous month, according to the Business Turnover Index (ICNE) published this Monday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

With the decrease in July, company sales have had four consecutive months of year-on-year declines after having been positive for 25 consecutive months.

All sectors presented negative year-on-year rates in July, except for services, which increased their sales by 5.4% year-on-year. Among the declines, the most pronounced was that of electricity and water supply, which cut its sales by 31.2%.

They were followed by industry, which reduced its turnover by 5.3% compared to the same month in 2022, and commerce, which sold 0.6% less than in July 2022.

Corrected for seasonal and calendar effects, company turnover decreased by 3.5% year-on-year last July, a rate 2.3 points higher than that of June.

The largest year-on-year decrease in the corrected series was also for the supply of electricity and water (-30.9%), followed by industry (-5.2%) and commerce (-0.6%). On the other hand, services increased their year-on-year turnover by 4.5%.

SALES INCREASE 1.1% IN THE MONTH

In monthly values ​​and within the corrected series, business turnover rose 1.1% in July, its largest monthly increase since August 2022, when it increased by 2.9%.

All sectors increased their sales in the seventh month of the year, specifically, commerce increased them by 1.1%; industry, 0.8%, and services, 0.5%. The supply of electricity and water, for its part, did not vary compared to June figures.
