Companies accelerate the growth of their sales to 6.5% in March and add 25 months of increases

MADRID, May 23. (EUROPA PRESS) - The turnover of companies increased by 6.5% last March compared to the same month in 2022, extending by half a point the rise registered the previous month, when they increased by 6%, according to the Business Turnover Index (ICNE) published this Tuesday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE).

With the rebound in March, company sales chained 25 consecutive months of year-on-year increases after having spent a negative year due to the impact of Covid.

All sectors presented positive interannual rates in March, except for the supply of electricity and water, which cut its sales by 19.4% interannual. Among the increases, the most pronounced was that of services, which increased its sales by 11.5% compared to March 2022.

It was followed by industry, which increased its turnover by 9.7% compared to the same month in 2022, and commerce, which sold 9% more than in March of last year.

Adjusted for seasonal and calendar effects, company turnover increased by 7.2% year-on-year last March, a rate eight tenths higher than that of February.

The greatest rise in the corrected series was also for services (12%), followed by industry (10.3%) and commerce (9.7%). In contrast, the supply of energy and water cut its billing by 19.4%.

MONTHLY SALES STAGN

In monthly values ​​and within the corrected series, corporate turnover stagnated in March after having risen 0.3% in February.

Only the services sector increased its sales in the third month of the year, with an increase of 0.5%. The rest of the sectors cut their billing, especially the supply of electricity and water (-3.2%) and industry (-2.8%).

Commerce, for its part, registered a more moderate decrease in its sales, of 0.6%.
