Commerzbank, the second largest bank in Germany, obtained an attributable net profit of 580 million euros in the first quarter of the year, which represents an increase of 94.8% compared to the result of 298 million recorded in the same period of 2022, reported the entity.

The German bank's turnover between January and March totaled 2,668 million euros, 4.5% less than in the first quarter of the previous year, despite the 38.9% increase in net interest income , up to 1,947 million, while commission income decreased by 5.6%, to 915 million.

On the other hand, in the first three months of the year the German entity assumed credit risk provisions of 68 million euros, compared to the adverse impact of 464 million in the same interval of 2022.

"Commerzbank is in good shape. Our transformation is progressing at a good pace and bearing more and more fruit," said Chairman of the Board Manfred Knof, who highlighted the boost for the bank's business from rate developments. of interest. "We are fully on track to meet our goals for 2023," he added.
