Belarra assures that the Government has complied with the law in the approach of ETA prisoners to the Basque Country and Navarra

LEÓN, March 25 (EUROPA PRESS) -

The Minister of Social Rights and the 2030 Agenda, Ione Belarra, has assured this Saturday that the Government has complied with the law, something that is "evidence", in relation to the achievement of the rapprochement of all ETA prisoners to prisons in the Country Basque and Navarre.

Belarra has also pointed out that action has been taken "as can be expected from a serious and responsible Executive", putting an end five years later to the dispersal of ETA members through prisons in Spain, once the transfer of Irantzu Gallastegi was authorized this Friday Sodupe, alias 'Amaia', and four other ETA members.

In this way, Belarra defended the Government's way of proceeding during her visit to the State Reference Center for Attention to Dependent People (CREDEI) in León, which was inaugurated this Saturday.

As reported by Penitentiary Institutions, among the approaches approved to go to prisons in the Basque Country were Irantzu Gallastegi Sodupe, a partner of Francisco Javier García Gaztelu, 'Txapote', one of the former ETA leaders with the highest number of crimes. The two are serving sentences for the murder of PP councilor Miguel Ángel Blanco 25 years ago, among other attacks.

The other four ETA members approached this Friday are Gregorio Escudero Balerdi, Asier Borrrero Toribio, Garikoitz Etxeberria Goikoetxea and Faustino Marcos Álvarez.
