MADRID, 31 May. (EUROPA PRESS) -

The former president of the Government, José María Aznar, considers that the advancement of the generals to July 23 is a "desperate act" by the head of the Executive, Pedro Sánchez, with whom he tries to "avoid a political trial" within the PSOE after the results of the Sunday. As he has stressed, with this "ordeal" he seeks that his party does not remove him as a candidate for the Presidency of the Government.

"For political survival, one ends with everything, with his party, with the others. He gets into a suicide pilot's plane and says, let's see, the whole crew with me", Aznar assured when describing the step he has just taken Sánchez when advancing the generals.

In his speech at the VI CEAPI Ibero-American Congress in Madrid, Aznar considers that Pedro Sánchez is trying to "avoid a political trial within his party" and that the PSOE can tell him that he cannot be the PSOE candidate for the next general elections. .

Although he has said that Sánchez is not "officially yet" the candidate of the PSOE, Aznar believes that with this step he is throwing a "horde" at his own party, to which he says: "Dare to remove me as a candidate with elections called." And in this way, he has continued, he seeks to avoid "there being an open crisis in the world of the left", both of "the extreme communist left" and of "the socialist left".

However, Aznar has been convinced that the Spaniards will "ratify" on July 23 the support expressed at the polls for the PP, which has had "forceful" and "spectacular" results. In his opinion, this "great victory" opens the possibility that on July 23, the day the "second phase" will take place, the triumph of Alberto Núñez Feijóo will be a "reality".

After confessing that he is "very happy" with the result of the PP on May 28, he indicated that on Sunday it was shown that "there is a desire in Spain for a social majority that wants change." As he added, the majority of Spaniards want a change and "is tired of confrontations", "radicalism" and that "extremist minorities want to govern the country", as well as "enduring experiments".

To questions from the director of El Mundo, Joaquín Manso, about the relationship that the PP has to maintain with Vox after the argument that Pedro Sánchez is using, Aznar responded ironically that "the Spanish left has the problem" of having "a 80-year intellectual setback", so that "his talent has diminished in a very clear way".

"And then the one who is not directly a fascist is about to become one (...) And the one who is about to be will end up being a fascist. The one who is not a fascist is quasi-fascist, the one who is not is also quasi-fascist and the one who It is not ultra-right," he exclaimed.

Aznar has stressed that "the important thing" is that there is "a Spanish social majority that is going to articulate around" the PP led by Feijóo. "I hope and wish that it has a sufficient majority to govern Spain," he asserted.

After assuring that he sees Feijóo "very well focused", he has indicated that there are "two essential elements" before the campaign that begins: first, the defense of the constitutional unity of Spain against "separatist attempts" and "the former terrorists" who have the "complicity" of the current Executive. And, secondly, committing to an "open, dynamic and competitive" society that gives Spain "more opportunities".
