At least eleven climbers have died and another twelve are missing after the eruption of the Mount Merapi volcano, in West Sumatra, considered the most active volcano in Indonesia.

The authorities found the bodies this Monday, although it was on Sunday when Merapi erupted and 75 climbers were trapped, of which 52 have been successfully and safely evacuated, although emergency services continue evacuation work.

The head of the observation post of the aforementioned mountain, Ahmad Rifandi, in statements to the Indonesian news portal Kompas, has confirmed the eruption but has indicated that the height of the ash column is unknown due to the presence of clouds.
