At least 16 dead in a new Russian attack on a market in Kostantinovka, in Donetsk

The Ukrainian authorities have denounced the death of at least 16 people as a result of a new attack by the Russian Armed Forces on a market in the town of Kostantinovka, in Donetsk, where several injuries have also been reported.

As detailed by the Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelenski, the place of impact of the missile was "a normal market, with shops and a pharmacy" and it has claimed the lives of "people who had done nothing to be guilty".

"Unfortunately, the number of dead and injured may continue to increase. My deepest condolences to all those who have lost family members. This Russian evil must be defeated as soon as possible," said President Zelensky, reports the UNIAN agency.

Russian forces have bombarded the area with missiles from an S-300 defense system. The projectiles caused a fire at the impact site, according to information collected by the Ukrinform news agency.

The city of Kostantinovka has been the scene of recent Russian offensives, the most recent this Tuesday, when a Russian attack left three people injured, two of them in serious condition, according to the RBC Ukraine news agency.
