Armengol will lead the PSIB-PSOE list to the Congress of Deputies

The general secretary of the PSIB-PSOE, Francina Armengol, expressed this Saturday, before the Political Council, the highest decision-making body between congresses, her desire to lead the Party's list to the Congress of Deputies in the elections on July 23.

Armengol has thus made himself available to the PSIB-PSOE, announcing that next week he will go "local assembly by local assembly to explain his project" with the intention of obtaining its support and that of the Party executive to head the list to the Congress, which must be ratified by the Federal Committee of the PSOE, in a meeting that is expected to take place on June 10.

"I want to ask for your support, because I believe that now more than ever we have to take a firm step forward, and I am willing to do so," he said at the extraordinary meeting of the Political Council of the PSIB-PSOE, the highest decision-making body between conferences.

Armengol has also outlined that he will go out "to win" these general elections, called "correctly" and with "absolute diligence" by the Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, given that, in his opinion, it is about "transcendental" elections for the present and the future of Spain and the Balearic Islands".

"In the generals we will go out to win, not only for the past, but for the present and the future. We must not be afraid of the extreme right or the extreme right, we must confront them, as we already did with Matas and Bauzá, those of us who won," he said.

Precisely, regarding the "extreme right and extreme right" governments that will be formed as a result of the electoral results of the municipal, insular and autonomous governments, Armengol has said that "they are involutionists of the rights achieved" and that is why they are presenting themselves to Congress "with more force than ever and with the certainty that this can only be stopped from the Socialist Party". "We will not hesitate", he has emphasized himself.

And, he added, "although the coup after the regional, municipal and island elections has been complicated, it is time to get up and be at 200 percent because we have the strength to do it and win in Spain, to continue advancing in rights and not return 40 years back".

"We are in an absolutely transcendental moment, and the Socialist Party is the only instrument that can stop a government of regression in Spain that would mean losing many things, rights and freedoms", he remarked, insisting that the Socialists are the "only" who "They can guarantee that this doesn't happen."

"The Socialist Party is the haystack of democracy, here and in the rest of Spain", asserted Armengol, who has reaffirmed his commitment to "leave his skin" so that PP and Vox do not govern in Spain and defend, from the Congress of Deputies, a "federal" country, against those who "want to recentralize issues such as Education and Health". "We have fought a lot for our self-government and, therefore, I will continue to defend our singularity, our language and identity" before those "who do not love it like we do."

IN THE BALEARIC ISLANDS, THE PSIB WILL LEAD "A VIGILANT AND FORCENT OPPOSITION"

Likewise, regarding the results of the local, island and regional elections of the past 28M, Armengol recalled that the PSIB obtained an all-time high in votes, with more than 118,000 people "who trust the Party and who will not be disappointed ".

"We socialists can say with pride and with our heads held high that we have worked our ass off to improve this land; it has improved," said Armengol, recalling that "a situation is left that has nothing to do with the one inherited" .

Finally, Armengol remarked that the PSIB-PSOE "will continue to stand up fighting for equal opportunities, social justice and everything that has made this Party what it is", and has stressed that "it will be closely monitored because the right extreme right and the extreme right have not yet entered into government and their intentions are already visible".

"The PSIB-PSOE will lead a forceful and courageous, committed, and very vigilant opposition, because we will not let the extreme right and the extreme right turn anything back," Armengol concluded in front of a Political Council that has shown him full support .
